Sinn EZM 12 นาฬิกาที่ออกแบบมาให้ปลอดภัยต่อถุงมือทางการแพทย์ และยังถอดชิ้นส่วนเพื่อล้างฆ่าเชื้อทุกซอกมุมได้โดยง่าย

Sinn เป็นแบรนด์ที่รู้จักกันเฉพาะในหมู่คนเล่นนาฬิกาเป็นหลัก บ้างก็เรียกว่าเป็นนาฬิกาคนบาปเพราะชาว Sinn คือ Sinner ตัวผมเองก็เป็นคนหนึ่งที่ติดตามแบรนด์นี้เรื่อยมาในฐานะผู้บริโภค จนเมื่อได้มาเป็นนักข่าวเต็มตัวแล้วจึงได้ไปพบกับทีมงาน Sinn จากแฟรงค์เฟิร์ตเป็นประจำทุกปีที่งาน Baselworld เพื่อพูดคุยและถ่ายรูปนาฬิการุ่นใหม่ๆ ของเขา
นาฬิกาส่วนมากของ Sinn จัดอยู่ในหมวดทูลวอทช์ที่มีความทนทาน ดีไซน์ไม่สะดุดตา ราคาอยู่ในเกณฑ์รับได้ (เคยถูกกว่านี้ก่อนยุคที่ตลาดนาฬิกาจะเฟื่องฟู) รุ่นที่ผมชอบมากที่สุดมาโดยตลอดก็คือ EZM 10 TESTAF และรุ่น 158 ที่เพิ่งออกใหม่เป็นโครโนกราฟสองวงนั่นก็น่าเป็นเจ้าของเหมือนกัน แต่ไฮไลท์ที่เราจะนำเสนอในวันนี้ก็คือ EZM 12 เพราะว่าตรงกับบริบททางสังคมที่ทุกคนกำลังให้ความสนใจเรื่องการแพทย์อยู่
Sinn EZM 12 นี้ไม่ใช่นาฬิกาใหม่เพราะว่าออกมาตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ. 2017 แล้ว และได้รับรางวัล Red Dot Award ในปี ค.ศ. 2019 ตามด้วย German Design Award ในปี ค.ศ. 2020 ไลน์นาฬิกา EZM มีชื่อเต็มในภาษาเยอรมันว่า Einsatzzeitmesser ซึ่งพอจะแปลเป็นภาษาอังกฤษได้ว่า Mission Timer โดย Sinn ออกแบบนาฬิการุ่นนี้ร่วมกับแพทย์เพื่อให้เป็นเรือนเวลาที่เหมาะสมสำหรับการใช้งานโดยสมาชิกหน่วยแพทย์กู้ภัย โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งหน่วยกู้ภัยทางอากาศ จึงจะเห็นว่าเข็มวินาทีนั้นเป็นรูปเหมือนใบพัดเฮลิคอปเตอร์ และยังใช้เป็นเครื่องวัดชีพจรหัวใจอย่างง่ายได้ด้วยเมื่ออ่านค่าประกอบกับพัลโซมิเตอร์บนหน้าปัด
นี่คือนาฬิกาที่เกิดมาเพื่อการใช้งานหนัก ตัวเรือนสเตนเลสสตีลผิวพ่นทรายขนาด 44 มม. และขอบตัวเรือนหมุนได้สีดำผ่านการเสริมความแกร่งของพื้นผิวด้วยเทคโนโลยีเทจิเมนท์ ตามสเปคระบุว่ากันน้ำได้ถึงระดับ 200 เมตร กันแม่เหล็กได้ถึง 80,000 แอมแปร์/เมตร และตัวเครื่องออโต้รุ่น ETA 2836-2 จะทำงานได้ในช่วงอุณหภูมิ -45 จนถึง 80 องศาเซลเซียส
นาฬิการุ่นนี้ไม่ได้เป็นโครโนกราฟ แต่ก็พอใช้จับเวลาได้แบบคร่าวๆ ด้วยขอบตัวเรือนชั้นในใต้แซฟไฟร์คริสตอล และยังจับเวลาถอยหลังได้ด้วยขอบตัวเรือนชั้นนอก สำหรับความพิเศษขั้นสุดของนาฬิการุ่นนี้ก็คือการที่ผู้ใช้นาฬิกาสามารถถอดสายซิลิโคนและขอบตัวเรือนได้ด้วยตนเองเพื่อทำความสะอาดนาฬิกาแบบทุกซอกทุกมุม การถอดสายนั้นไม่ต้องใช้อุปกรณ์อะไรเลย ส่วนการถอดขอบตัวเรือนก็เพียงใช้ไขควงปากแบนหรือมีดเล็กที่มากับนาฬิกาแซะออกมา ซีลยางของนาฬิกา EZM 12 ใช้วัสดุพิเศษที่ทนทานต่อสารฆ่าเชื้อต่างๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นสูตรที่ใช้เอธานอล ไอโซโพรพิลแอลกอฮอล โพรพิลแอลกอฮอลหรืออะมิโนโพรพิลไกลซีน นอกจากนี้ ในเรื่องของการออกแบบยังมีการใช้ความระมัดระวังเป็นพิเศษอีกด้วยเพื่อไม่ให้มีเหลี่ยมคมตามจุดต่างๆ ของตัวเรือนซึ่งอาจไปเกี่ยวโดนถุงมือลาเท็กซ์หรือถุงมือไนไตรล์จนขาดได้
ทั้งหมดนี้ทำให้ Sinn EZM 12 เป็นนาฬิกาที่เหมาะสำหรับการใช้งานโดยบุคลากรทางการแพทย์อย่างแท้จริง และเป็นนวัตกรรมที่ควรค่าแก่การนำเสนอในช่วงที่ทุกคนให้ความสนใจกับเรื่องเชื้อโรค การล้างมือและการทำความสะอาดข้าวของเครื่องใช้เช่นนี้
อ่านมาถึงจุดนี้ หลายท่านอาจจะถามว่าทำไมไม่ใส่นาฬิกาควอตซ์ทนๆ อย่าง Luminox ไปเลย หรือใส่ Casio G-Shock ดีกว่าไหม เพราะว่าถูกกว่า มีหน้าจอแสดงผลแบบตัวเลขและกดไฟแบ็คไลท์ได้ คำตอบคือดีกว่าแน่นอนครับถ้าจะมองในแง่ของต้นทุนหรือประโยชน์ในการใช้สอย เอาเป็นว่านาฬิกาจักรกลเป็นอีกเรื่องหนึ่งเลย และก็มีเพียง Sinn EZM 12 รุ่นนี้ที่ตอบโจทย์การใช้งานเฉพาะทางดังกล่าวได้อย่างดีที่สุดแล้วครับ

I am a Sinner all right. For all five Baselworld editions I attended from 2015 to 2019, I made sure I had at least 45 minutes to meet our good friends from Frankfurt. Sinn makes solid and inconspicuous watches at acceptable prices (used to be even more affordable before the latest watch boom). My all-time favourite is the EZM 10 TESTAF but the recently introduced bicompax 158 model also looks quite tempting. The highlight watch today, though, is the EZM 12, for its medical relevance.
Sinn EZM 12 is not a new product. It was launched back in 2017 and went on to win the Red Dot Award 2019 and the German Design Award 2020. A part of the EZM (Einsatzzeitmesser or “Mission Timer”) range, this EZM 12 has been developed in collaboration with physicians for use in emergency medicine, particularly the air rescue service. If anything, the second hand should be a telltale sign as it is given the unique shape of a helicopter blade, which can be used to determine heart rate together with the associated pulsometer.
This is a watch that is meant to see rough use with Tegiment technology applied to the 44 mm sandblasted stainless steel case and the black rotating bezel. Rated to the water resistance level of 200 metres, the Sinn EZM 12 is designed to function in the temperature range from -45°C to 80°C. It is also magnetic resistant to 80,000 A/m. While not a chronograph, the ETA 2836-2powered EZM 12 offers timing possibilities by way of the countdown external bezel and the countup internal bezel underneath the sapphire crystal.
Even more uniquely, both the silicone strap and the bezel can be removed by the user for thorough cleaning of the case. The strap is detachable without the use of a tool while the bezel can be popped out with the use of a flat screwdriver on the provided penknife. The special seals used on this timepiece makes possible cleaning with disinfectants containing ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, propyl alcohol and aminopropyl glycine. Also, the entire watch is designed to be free of sharp edges so as to be safe to latex or nitrile gloves.
As a result, the Sinn EZM 12 can be rightly presented as a timepiece for medical personnel – something worth a special mention during this time of global pandemic.
You may argue that wearing a robust quartz watch from Luminox makes more sense, or even a disposable Casio G-Shock with numeral display and backlight and all. That is very true indeed from the cost justification or pragmatic point of view. Still, where mechanical timepieces are concerned, Sinn EZM 12 stands almost peerless in the market presently.
