Van Cleef & Arpels กับมหัศจรรย์แห่งการสร้างสรรค์อันน่าหลงใหล

ในโลกการสร้างสรรค์นาฬิกาอันกว้างใหญ่และพิเศษสุดนั้นมีเมซงหนี่งโดดเด่นแตกต่างด้วยคุณสมบัติพิเศษไม่เหมือนใคร จนทำให้ผู้คร่ำหวอดในโลกนาฬิการู้สึกทึ่งยามได้ชมผลงานสร้างสรรค์ที่เปี่ยมด้วยจินตนาการ และพร้อมก้าวข้ามขอบเขตของขนบการสร้างสรรค์นาฬิกา เมซงนั้นคือ Van Cleef & Arpels ซึ่งมีสำนักงานใหญ่อยู่ในปารีส และมีโรงงานผลิตนาฬิกาอย่างเต็มรูปแบบในเจนีวา
นาฬิกา Lady Arpels Pont des Amoureux ซึ่งผลิตขึ้นเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 2010 นำเสนอเรื่องราวความรักระหว่างหญิงและชายที่มาพบกันในยามเที่ยงคืน (และเที่ยงวัน) กลางสะพานในกรุงปารีส แท้ที่จริงแล้ว ฟิกเกอร์ของคนทั้งสองคือเข็มเรโทรเกรดซึ่งทำหน้าที่บอกชั่วโมงและนาทีตามลำดับ อีกทั้งหน้าปัดยังทำหน้าที่เป็นฉากหลังเพื่อแสดงเรื่องราวสุดโรแมนติก นาฬิการุ่นนี้จัดอยู่ในคอลเลคชั่น Poetic Complications ซึ่งเปิดตัวเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 2006 เพื่อฉลองครบรอบหนึ่งศตวรรษของเมซง

เมื่อไม่นานมานี้ในปี ค.ศ. 2024 เมซงยังได้สร้างสรรค์นาฬิกา Lady Arpels Brise d’Été ซึ่งหมายถึง “สายลมแห่งฤดูร้อน” ประกอบด้วยผีเสื้อสองตัวที่ทำจากไวท์โกลด์และเยลโลว์โกลด์ซึ่งผลัดกันทำหน้าที่แสดงชั่วโมงและนาที ปุ่มกดข้างตัวเรือน ณ ตำแหน่ง 8 นาฬิกาเป็นตัวขับเคลื่อนโมดูลออโตมาตอนของนาฬิกา ส่งให้ผีเสื้อทั้งสองตัวโบยบินรอบหน้าปัดนาน 10 วินาทีก่อนจะหยุดแสดงเวลา ณ ยามนั้น และในระหว่างนั้นเอง ดอกไม้สามดอกบนก้านสีเขียวก็จะขยับไหวราวกับโอนเอียงตามสายลมในจินตนาการ

Every year without fail, the maison captivates the eager audience with creations that surprise and delight.

In the vast and exceptional world of watchmaking, one maison easily stands out for their unique ability to amaze connoisseurs time and again with the most imaginative creations, transcending the domain of conventional horology. That maison is Van Cleef & Arpels, headquartered in Paris and with a full-fledged watch manufacture in Geneva.
Their Lady Arpels Pont des Amoureux watch in 2010 pitches a love story between a lady and a gentleman who meet at midnight (and midday) in the middle of a Parisian bridge. The two figures are, in fact, retrograde hands that indicate the hour and the minute accordingly, and the whole dial sets the stage for this romantic choreography. This watch belongs to the Poetic Complications collection which was established four years prior in 2006, to mark the centenary of the maison.
Since then, the Poetic Complications collection and the encompassing Poetry of Time philosophy have put the maison on a pedestal through multiple wristwatches and automatons that are unlike anything in the market. They convey stories from a group of universes like love, as in the case of the aforementioned Lady Arpels Pont des Amoureux, or astronomy, as in the Midnight Planétarium or the Zodiaque Lumineux watches. Figures relating to the earlier decades of Van Cleef & Arpels as a jeweller, like the ballerina and the fairy, often serve as muses for the design and development of contemporary wristwatches as well.
And then there is the enchanted nature: a gentle yet powerful theme that provides the largest canvas for Van Cleef & Arpels. Examples of nature-inspired watches include the Lady Arpels Heures Florales Cerisier for which they won the Innovation Prize from the GPHG in 2022. Its 12 flowers on the dial open and close in turn to tell the hour, while the minutes are visible in a window on the side of the case.
More recently, in 2024, Lady Arpels Brise d’Été, literally the “summer breeze”, features two butterflies in white or yellow gold that take turns to indicate the hour and the approximate minutes. The button at the eight o’clock position of the case activates the automaton module of the watch, sending the two butterflies on a 10-second flight across the dial before stopping at the correct time. While this happens, the three corolla flowers on green stems gently sway to the tune of an imaginary breeze.
