What happens when an elegant family Palazzo becomes a Luxury Hotel? We take a peek into Palazzo Daniele in Puglia.

In the era of consumerism where everything is plunged into the extreme, one can be forgiven for wanting to get away from the chaos. If you’re looking for a quiet place so hide away, but require the comfort of a luxury hotel, then this new opening in Italy’s Puglia region may be just what the doctor ordered.
Palazzo Daniele is the latest member to join the Design Hotels collection. The 9-suite property was converted from the ancestral family palazzo of contemporary art curator and philanthropist, Francesco Petrucci. Located in the sleepy village of Galgliano del Capo in the Salento region of Puglia, it’s a building that holds its weight in history. The palazzo itself was erected in 1861 and designed by architect Demonica Malinconico in the neoclassical style.
While converting the building into a hotel, Milanese Design company Ludovica and Roberto Palomba were invited to oversee renovations. The concept behind Palazzo Daniele would be to remove much of the interiors and embrace minimalism, while maintaining the building’s structure and decorative details like frescos, original floors and artwork. These were carefully restored and matched with art pieces exclusively curated by the owner. The objects include a lamp from Luigi Presicci, stools from Nicolas Party and a Roberto Cuoghi sculpture. In addition to the artworks, there is a dedicated space for art exhibitions.
As for the accommodations, guests can choose between the 25-sqm Junior Suites and the 45-sqm Royal Junior Suite, The Royal Junior suites comes with a bathroom designed to be a “living art installation” whereby a 6-meter-high shower rains down onto a basin designed by artist Andrea Sala. And this is just one part of the hotel!

Palazzo Daniele โรงแรมแห่งล่าสุดในเครือ Design Hotels คือที่พักแบบห้องสวีทจำนวน 9 ห้องที่ดัดแปลงมาจากคฤหาสน์ของเศรษฐีใจบุญอย่าง Francesco Petrucci ที่ตั้งอยู่ในหมู่บ้าน Galgliano del Capo ในเขตซาเลนโตของปูเลีย ตัวอาคารแบบนีโอคลาสสิกที่สร้างในค.ศ. 1861 นี้ออกแบบโดยสถาปนิก Demonica Malinconico เมื่อจะทำเป็นที่พัก บริษัทออกแบบจากมิลานอย่าง Ludovica and Roberto Palomba ก็ได้รับเชิญมารับหน้าที่บูรณะ โดยรื้อการตกแต่งภายในออกเพื่อเน้นความเรียบง่าย แต่ยังรักษาโครงสร้างดั้งเดิมของตัวอาคาร รวมถึงรายละเอียดตกแต่งอย่างภาพเฟรสโกหรือพื้นเดิมไว้บางส่วนเพื่อให้เข้ากับคอลเลกชั่นงานศิลปะที่นำมาประดับ ซึ่งล้วนเป็นงานศิลปะเฉพาะที่ที่เจ้าของคอมมิชชั่นมาเพื่อตกแต่งที่นี่โดยเฉพาะ ตั้งแต่โคมไฟจาก Luigi Presicci สตูลจาก Nicolas Party ไปประติมากรรมจาก Roberto Cuoghi และนอกจากจะเป็นที่พักแล้ว ที่นี่ยังมีสเปซพิเศษสำหรับจัดแสดงงานศิลปะด้วย ส่วนห้องพักนั้นคุณอาจจะเลือกระหว่างห้อง Junior Suite ขนาด 25 ตารางเมตรหรือห้อง Royal Junior Suite ขนาด 45 ตารางเมตร ที่มาพร้อมกับห้องนำ้ที่ออกแบบให้เป็น “living art installation” โดยศิลปิน Andrea Sala ที่มีชาวเวอร์ไหลลงมาจากกำแพงสูง 6 เมตร และนี่ยังเป็นแค่ส่วนหนึ่งเท่านั้น!
