Vacheron Constantin จัดนิทรรศการเจาะลึกถึงที่มาของความงามในเรือนเวลาของตน

Vacheron Constantin จัดงานใหญ่ที่สุดในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ในรูปของนิทรรศการชื่อ The Anatomy of Beauty และเราก็ประทับใจกับทุกสิ่งที่ได้เห็นภายในงานดังกล่าวซึ่งจัดขึ้นที่ชั้นบนสุดของ ArtScience Museum รูปทรงดอกบัวอันเป็นแลนด์มาร์คหนึ่งของประเทศสิงคโปร์ ช่วงวันที่ 16 ตุลาคม – 2 พฤศจิกายนซึ่งพ้องกับการเปิดบูติคของ Vacheron Constantin ที่ Marina Bay Sands อีกครั้งหลังจากที่ปิดปรับโฉมมาพักหนึ่ง นิทรรศการนี้เปิดให้ผู้สนใจเข้าชมได้เพียงกดลงทะเบียนเพื่อจองตั๋วผ่านทางเว็บไซท์ของพิพิธภัณฑ์
ด้วยความที่ Vacheron Constantin มีประวัติศาสตร์ยาวนานมาตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ. 1755 นาฬิกาที่คัดเลือกมาจัดแสดงภายในงาน The Anatomy of Beauty จึงมีตั้งแต่ยุคศตวรรษที่ 19 เรื่อยมาจนถึงยุคปัจจุบัน แต่ละเรือนล้วนเป็นตัวแทนของความเชื่อมโยงอันแน่นแฟ้นระหว่างความเชี่ยวชาญทางด้านเทคนิคและความล้ำเลิศในงานช่างศิลป์ที่ปรากฏอยู่ในนาฬิกา Vacheron Constantin แต่ละยุคสมัย ที่สำคัญก็คือว่านาฬิกาทั้งหมดนี้ได้รับการนำเสนอในรูปแบบที่มีความหมายและเข้าใจได้ง่าย ไม่ว่าผู้เข้าชมจะเป็นนักสะสมนาฬิกามากประสบการณ์หรือว่าเป็นผู้ที่เพิ่งจะเริ่มสนใจนาฬิกาก็ตาม
พื้นที่ภายในงานถูกแบ่งเป็น 3 โซนเพื่อนำผู้มาเยือนเข้าไปสัมผัสกับประวัติศาสตร์อันรุ่มรวยของ Vacheron Constantin โซนแรกที่ทุกคนจะพบเมื่อเข้าสู่พื้นที่ของงานมีชื่อว่า Our Heritage และแม้ว่าจะเป็นโซนที่เล็กที่สุดของงานแต่นาฬิกาพกและนาฬิกาข้อมือทั้งหลายที่อยู่ในโซนนี้ก็เป็นตัวแทนของประวัติศาสตร์กว่า 200 ปีของแบรนด์ได้เป็นอย่างดี
นาฬิกาบางเรือนก็มีการตกแต่งมากเป็นพิเศษ อย่างเช่นนาฬิกาพกตัวเรือนเยลโลว์โกลด์แกะสลักและประดับอเมธิสท์จากปี ค.ศ. 1822 ซึ่ง Vacheron Constantin ใช้ในรูปโปรโมทหลักของงานนี้ ในขณะที่บางรุ่นก็เป็นตัวแทนของความหลักแหลมทางด้านกลไกอย่างเช่น Mercator ซึ่งมีเข็มบอกเวลาแบบเรโทรเกรดรูปทรงเหมือนวงเวียนที่ใช้ในการอ่านค่าบนแผนที่และนาฬิกา Tour de l’lle สุดซับซ้อนที่ออกมาในโอกาสครบรอบ 250 ปีของ Vacheron Constantin เมื่อปี ค.ศ. 2005
จากนั้นจึงเป็นการยกระดับประสบการณ์ด้วยโซนถัดไปที่มีชื่อว่า The Anatomy of Beauty เหมือนกับชื่องาน วัตถุประสงค์หลักของพื้นที่นี้คือการนำเสนอให้ทุกคนได้เห็นถึงรายละเอียดอย่างเช่นการขัดแต่งบนชิ้นส่วนของเครื่องนาฬิกาซึ่งบางชิ้นนั้นอาจจะไม่อยู่ในจุดที่มองเห็นได้ด้วยซ้ำเมื่อประกอบเครื่องเสร็จแล้ว หรือรายละเอียดแห่งความโค้งมนบนข้อสายนาฬิกาที่ทำเป็นรูปทรงไม้กางเขนมอลตีสอันเป็นสัญลักษณ์ประจำของ Vacheron Constantin และแน่นอนว่าจะต้องมีการนำเสนอผลงานที่เกี่ยวกับหน้าปัดด้วยซึ่งในงานนี้มีนาฬิกาที่เป็นไฮไลท์เป็นเรือนเวลาทั้ง 4 รุ่นในชุด Tribute to Great Civilisations ของคอลเลคชั่น Métiers d’Art ซึ่งเป็นผลงานการพัฒนาร่วมกับพิพิธภัณฑ์ลูฟวร์
แล้วก็มาถึงโซนสุดท้ายซึ่งเป็นโซนโปรดของเรา โซนที่ 3 นี้มีชื่อว่า Science and Complications และมีลักษณะเป็นห้องมืดเหมือนโรงภาพยนตร์ที่จะสว่างขึ้นมาตามจังหวะของภาพเคลื่อนไหวที่ฉายไปบนกำแพง ภาพเคลื่อนไหวนี้เป็นงานศิลปะดิจิตอลที่สร้างสรรค์ขึ้นเพื่องาน The Anatomy of Beauty โดยเฉพาะโดย Cityshake Art Studio แต่ละชุดเป็นการถ่ายทอดถึงแก่นแท้หรือการทำงานของคอมพลิเคชั่นสำคัญ 5 ชนิด ได้แก่ ตูร์บิยอง โครโนกราฟแบบสปลิทเซ็กเกินด์ เรโทเกรด เพอร์เพทชวลคาเลนดาร์และมินิทรีพีทเตอร์ ยิ่งยืนดูก็ยิ่งเหมือนว่าเราดำดิ่งลงไปในห้วงแห่งความเคลื่อนไหวของคอมพลิเคชั่นแต่ละชนิดนั้น
และอย่างที่คุณผู้อ่านพอจะเดาได้ก็คือว่าภายในห้องนี้มีตู้โชว์นาฬิกาตามประเภทของคอมพลิเคชั่นต่างๆ อยู่ด้วย บ้างก็เป็นนาฬิกาพก บ้างก็เป็นนาฬิกาข้อมือจากยุคสมัยต่างๆ อย่างเช่นนาฬิกาพกกลไกโครโนกราฟแบบสปลิทเซ็กเกินด์จากปี ค.ศ. 1939 และนาฬิกา Patrimony Minute Repeater Ultra-Thin จากปี ค.ศ. 2013 ซึ่งบางเพียง 8.10 มม. แต่มีกลไกมินิทรีพีทเตอร์อยู่ภายในและมีกำลังลานสำรองนานถึงเกือบ 3 วัน ข้างตู้โชว์ทุกตู้มีเครื่องแท็บเบล็ทติดตั้งไว้อยู่ด้วยเพื่อให้ผู้สนใจกดดูรายละเอียดเพิ่มเติมได้ด้วยตนเอง
The Anatomy of Beauty เป็นงานที่จัดได้อย่างงดงาม น่าชม และตอบโจทย์เรื่องการสร้างความสนใจในตัวแบรนด์ได้เป็นอย่างดี จะเดินชมงานเองก็ได้ จะขอให้พนักงานของแบรนด์พาเดินก็ดี ระยะเวลาในการเดินชมก็อาจจะต่างกันตามสไตล์ของแต่ละคน อย่างน้อยๆ ก็ต้องมี 1 ชั่วโมง หรือหากใครจะใช้เวลาอยู่นานถึง 3 ชั่วโมงเราก็ไม่แปลกใจ ถ้า Vacheron Constantin สามารถยกเอานิทรรศการนี้ไปจัดในทวีปต่างๆ ในโลกเพื่อให้คนรักนาฬิกาในแต่ละตลาดได้มาชื่นชมความตั้งใจในการคัดเลือก ร้อยเรียงและนำเสนอทั้งหมดนี้ได้ก็คงจะเป็นการดีไม่น้อย

The exhibits highlighted the maison’s link between technical mastery and decorative arts throughout the course of their history.

Vacheron Constantin presented their most significant event in Southeast Asia, officially titled The Anatomy of Beauty, and we were duly impressed by what we experienced on the day of our visit. Staged on the top floor of Singapore’s ArtScience Museum from 16 October to 2 November, to coincide with the opening of the newly renovated Vacheron Constantin boutique at the Marina Bay Sands, the exhibition was open to the public who only needed to book a free ticket through the museum’s website.
For a brand dating back to 1755, it was not surprising to see a curation of watches from the 19th century to the present day at The Anatomy of Beauty. The selected timepieces highlighted the inseparable links between technical mastery and decorative arts, which embody the Vacheron Constantin approach to watchmaking over the decades. What was equally or even more important though was how those pieces were showcased in a meaningful and relevant way that everyone, from seasoned collectors to newcomers to the watchmaking world, can similarly appreciate and enjoy.
As such, three experience areas were designed to induct visitors into the maison’s wealth of history. The first one greeting guests upon their arrival was called Our Heritage. Despite being the smallest of the three areas, it proffered a range of pocket watches and wristwatches from across 200 years of the maison’s heritage.
Some of the pieces on display were particularly embellished, such as the finely chased yellow gold pocket watch set with amethysts from 1822, which appeared as a hero piece in the event’s communication visuals. Meanwhile, mechanical ingenuity was represented by pieces such as the Mercator, with two retrograde compass hands over an enamelled map dial, and the glorious Tour de l’lle for the 250th anniversary of Vacheron Constantin in 2005.
Things got more experiential as we stepped into the next area which bore the same name as the event itself: The Anatomy of Beauty. Here, the maison encouraged visitors to pay closer attention to the meticulous details on the different components of a watch. This could be the finissage of a movement part that is not visible to anyone once assembled; or it could even be the contours of the Maison’s Maltese cross emblem on bracelet links. The great works performed on watch dials were also celebrated here with a highlight showcase containing all four pieces from the 2022 Tribute to Great Civilisations Métiers d’Art collection, developed as part of an ongoing partnership with the Louvre.
The last zone was a favourite of ours. Dubbed Science and Complications, the dark, theatre-like room was lit mostly by the projection of digital artworks, created specifically for The Anatomy of Beauty by The Cityshake Art Studio. These moving animations served as visual contemplation of five horological complications: the tourbillon, split-seconds chronograph, retrograde, perpetual calendar and minute-repeater. On the macro level, they reflected a faithful rendition of how the complication works. On the micro level, they offered endless details at which visitors could gaze.
Of course, fine specimens for each of the five complications were presented in the respective displays. They included a mix of pocket watches and wristwatches from different eras such as a split-seconds chronograph pocket watch from 1939 and the Patrimony Minute Repeater Ultra-Thin from 2013, which measures only 8.10 mm thick despite containing a chiming mechanism and a power reserve of nearly three days. A tablet device placed next to each showcase provided any additional information visitors may have required.
The Anatomy of Beauty was a thorough and well organised event intended to cultivate interest in the brand. It could be relished alone or with a guide in as short a time as one hour or easily as long as three, depending on the level of one’s interest in the various components shown. We sincerely wish that Vacheron Constantin can bring the setup to a few more markets of the world, treating watch lovers in those regions with the opportunity to indulge in this fine presentation.
