It is impossible to overlook Ulysse Nardin when discussing seabound watches. After all, that anchor in the UN logo references the brand’s great heritage in the manufacture of highly accurate marine chronometers: a most crucial aid for celestial navigation for ships of days past. As the world shifted to wristwatches, Ulysse Nardin continues to produce ones which are worthy of the world above and below the water. The slight catch is that not everyone was moved by their peculiar look, but that is changed now with the new range of Diver Chronometer watches in 44 mm titanium case.
For this late 2018 introduction, Ulysse Nardin remained true to their DNA while injecting a generous dose of youth into the overall design. Notably, the power reserve indicator is at 12 o’clock while the small second hand and the date can be found at 6 o’clock. The unidirectional bezel concaves down to the sapphire crystal and determines the colour of the rubber strap with titanium pin buckle. All models use the self-winding Calibre UN-118 and are rated to the depth of 300 metres. Apart from the regular production references in black and blue, there is the Great White limited edition of 300 pieces with white bezel, white rubber strap and thankfully a grey dial to keep it gritty and manly.

เมื่อนึกถึงนาฬิกาที่มีความผูกพันกับท้องทะเล หากจะไม่มีชื่อ Ulysse Nardin ขึ้นมาในใจเลยก็ออกจะแปลกไปเสียหน่อย เพราะสัญลักษณ์สมอเรือที่อยู่บนโลโก้ของแบรนด์ออกจะเด่นชัดเสียขนาดนั้น ถือเป็นเครื่องหมายสื่อถึงเกียรติประวัติในการผลิตนาฬิกาความเที่ยงตรงสูงเพื่อใช้ในการคำนวณเส้นทางเดินเรือหรือที่เรียกว่ามารีนโครโนมิเตอร์ในอดีต สำหรับในยุคสมัยใหม่นี้ Ulysse Nardin ก็มีการผลิตนาฬิกาข้อมือเพื่อใช้ในการดำน้ำและการเล่นกีฬาทางน้ำมาโดยตลอด แต่ด้วยรูปลักษณ์และดีเทลในบางจุดแล้วอาจทำให้โดนใจผู้ซื้อเพียงบางกลุ่มเท่านั้น เมื่อถึงเวลาที่จะอัพเดทใหม่ในครั้งนี้ Ulysse Nardin จึงเพิ่มความหนุ่มและความเฉียบคมให้กับดีไซน์โดยรวมโดยที่ไม่ได้ทิ้งดีเอ็นเอของแบรนด์ไปแม้แต่น้อย
