ช่วงหลายปีที่ผ่านมานี้ผู้คนหันมาสนใจเรื่องนาฬิกากันมากขึ้นอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ หลายแบรนด์ที่เคยเป็นที่รู้จักเฉพาะในหมู่นักสะสมก็กลายเป็นที่คุ้นเคยของประชาชนในวงกว้างกว่าเดิม ซึ่งก็เป็นทั้งเรื่องดีและเรื่องไม่ดี ขึ้นอยู่กับว่าตัวคุณนั้นเป็นใครและคุณชอบให้คนอื่นรู้จักหรือไม่รู้จักนาฬิกาที่คุณใส่ ขอยกตัวอย่างนักสะสมท่านหนึ่งที่เมื่อหลายปีก่อนขายนาฬิกาเยลโลว์โกลด์และพิงค์โกลด์ทั้งหมดโดยเก็บไว้เฉพาะไวท์โกลด์ แพลทตินัมและสเตนเลสสตีลเท่านั้น สาเหตุเพราะว่าเวลานักสะสมท่านนั้นทำงานจะต้องพบปะผู้คนทุกวัน และก็มักจะมีคนทักหรือชมเรื่องนาฬิกาเรือนทองที่ใส่อยู่เป็นประจำจนเกิดท่านนั้นความกระอักกระอ่วน หากคุณเป็นอีกคนหนึ่งที่มีแนวคิดในทำนองนี้ แต่ก็ยังอยากใส่นาฬิกาที่มีระดับและมีราคา วันนี้เราเลือก 3 แบรนด์น่าสนใจที่คนทั่วไปยังไม่ค่อยรู้จักมานำเสนอคุณแล้วครับ
Parmigiani Fleurier
คุณมิเชล ปาร์มิจิอาร์นีเป็นช่างนาฬิกาที่สร้างชื่อจากฝีมือการบูรณะนาฬิกาพกและนาฬิกาตั้งโต๊ะโบราณที่เหนือชั้น จนกระทั่งวันหนึ่งเขาได้รับความไว้วางใจให้ดูแลคอลเลคชั่นนาฬิกาพกที่ใหญ่ที่สุดคอลเลคชั่นหนึ่งของประเทศสวิตเซอร์แลนด์ และครอบครัวเศรษฐีที่เป็นเจ้าของนาฬิกาชุดดังกล่าวก็ให้การสนับสนุนคุณปาร์มิจิอาร์นีในการก่อตั้งแบรนด์นาฬิกาในชื่อตนเองที่เมืองเล็กๆ ชื่อเฟลอริเยร์ในปี ค.ศ. 1996 นับจากนั้นมา Parmigiani Fleurier ก็ออกแบบและผลิตนาฬิการะดับหรูที่ดูไม่ฟุ้งเฟ้อเพื่อส่งไปขายยังประเทศต่างๆ ในโลก บ้างก็เป็นนาฬิกาแบบที่บอกเวลาเพียงอย่างเดียว บ้างก็เป็นนาฬิกาที่มีกลไกพิเศษต่างๆ อาทิ โครโนกราฟแบบสปลิทเซ็กเกินด์ และ เพอร์เพทชวลคาเลนดาร์

Gerald Charles

ทุกวันนี้แบรนด์ Gerald Charles ยังคงดำเนินกิจการอย่างต่อเนื่องโดยใช้ดีไซน์ที่เจรัลด์ออกแบบไว้ คอลเลคชั่นหลักที่ขายเรื่อยมามีชื่อว่า Maestro ตัวเรือนของนาฬิการุ่นนี้ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจมาจากสถาปัตยกรรรมบาโรคที่โรม โมเดลต่างๆ มีทั้งแบบอัลตร้าธิน สเกเลตั้น โครโนกราฟและตูร์บิยอง ซึ่งทุกรุ่นล้วนแล้วแต่สวมใส่ด้วยสายยางทั้งหมด และล่าสุดเราได้สัมผัสกับความงามของคอลเลคชั่น Masterlink ใหม่ที่เป็นการนำดีไซน์ Maestro เดิมไปปรับให้มีความจัตุรัสมากขึ้นและประกบคู่กับสายนาฬิกาแบบอินทีเกรทที่ไม่เพียงดูกลมกลืนกับเส้นสายของตัวเรือนแต่ว่าสวมสบายข้อมือแบบเหลือเชื่อ อย่างไรก็ดี Gerald Charles เป็นแบรนด์เดียวในบทความนี้ที่ยังไม่มีขายในประเทศไทยในเวลานี้ หากสนใจจะต้องไปดูที่ตัวแทนจำหน่ายที่ใกล้ที่สุดคือที่ฮ่องกงและโตเกียว

ชื่อแบรนด์ H. Moser & Cie. มีที่มาจากช่างนาฬิกายุคศตวรรษที่ 19 ชื่อไฮน์ริค โมเซอร์แห่งเมืองชาฟเฮาเซน ประเทศสวิตเซอร์แลนด์ ตัวบริษัทในปัจจุบันก่อตั้งเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 2002 โดยทายาทของโมเซอร์ร่วมกับนักลงทุนกลุ่มหนึ่ง และในภายหลังบริษัท MELB Holding ของครอบครัวเมย์ลองจึงเข้าซื้อกิจการในปี ค.ศ. 2012 แล้วนำมาปั้นต่อจนประสบความสำเร็จด้วยกลยุทธ์ทางการตลาดอันหลักแหลม แตกต่าง และในบางครั้งก็ถึงขั้นขบถ แต่ไม่ว่าอย่างไร ในเรื่องของผลิตภัณฑ์นั้น H. Moser & Cie. ก็เพียบพร้อมด้วยความประณีตของงานฝีมือที่ให้ความรู้สึกดั้งเดิมและร่วมสมัยไปพร้อมกัน

With growing interest in the general population, wristwatches have become much more conspicuous in recent years. Many traditional watch brands once familiar only among serious collectors have become more recognizable to the public. This is good and bad at the same time, depending on who you are and what you prefer. We know of a collector who a very long time ago sold all of his yellow gold and pink gold watches, keeping only white gold, platinum, and stainless steel ones, because people he interacted with in his line of work kept noticing and complimenting his colored gold pieces. If you have ever felt similarly uncomfortable, you may want to look at these sophisticated, respectable yet largely unknown watch brands for your next purchase.
Parmigiani Fleurier
Master watchmaker Michel Parmigiani was initially known for his superior skills at restoring old watches and clocks. Life path led him to care for one of the largest pocket watch collections in Switzerland, and the affluent family owning that collection offered him the support necessary to establish his own watch brand in 1996. Since then, the company has been designing and producing upscale but understated timepieces in the rural Swiss town of Fleurier. They range from the simplest time-only watch to split-seconds chronographs, perpetual calendars, and beyond.
Parmigiani Fleurier watch collections have been streamlined and refreshed in 2021, leading to heightened interest among the connoisseurs. Have a look at their Tonda PF for a great all-round watch on an integrated bracelet, or their Toric for a dressier option on a leather strap. Their classical styling and muted colors are certain to please discerning clientele who prefer to look non-ostentatious as they go about their lives. Parmigiani Fleurier is represented in Thailand by Baechtold at Gaysorn Village.
Gerald Charles
The gentleman behind the design of Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak, Patek Philippe’s Nautilus, and Bulgari’s Bulgari Bulgari watch was Gerald Genta who passed away in 2011 at the age of 80. During his lifetime, he had a watch brand of his own twice. The first one was the Gerald Genta brand, which was sold to The Hour Glass and then to Bulgari. For the second one, he elected to use his first name and middle name, Gerald Charles, and ran it himself for three years before selling the company to his business partner so he could focus solely on the design aspect of the operation during the last years of his life.
Today, Gerald Charles continues to produce watches designed by the gentleman the brand was named after. The Maestro collection features a case shape inspired by the baroque architecture in Rome. It is available in ultra-thin, skeleton, chronograph, and tourbillon versions – all worn on a rubber strap. Most recently, we were very excited by the new Masterlink collection. Here, the team has taken the Maestro’s case shape, made it more squarish and given it an integrated bracelet that is visually harmonious and physically comfortable. Of the three brands presented in this article, Gerald Charles is the only one without a retailer in Thailand. H. Moser & Cie.
Named after 19th century watchmaker Heinrich Moser of Schaffhausen, Switzerland, the contemporary brand H. Moser & Cie. was established in 2002 by a descendant of the founder, together with a group of investors. Later on, it was acquired in 2012 by MELB Holding of the Meylan family, which brought the brand to new heights with their clever, unorthodox, and in certain cases, provocative marketing strategies. Nevertheless, each H. Moser & Cie. watch is a product of great craftsmanship that is as traditional as it is contemporary.
Minimalism is a guiding principle at this watch brand, and they try to keep the dial as clean as one possibly can. Their perpetual calendar watches, for example, omit the typical day and month subdials commonly found in typical perpetual calendar watches and introduces a tiny hand at the center of the dial that points to the 12 hour positions in such a way that one o’clock represents January, two o’clocks represents February and so on. Moreover, H. Moser & Cie. often foregoes the logo on the dial altogether, leaving their watches recognizable only by those in the know.
