Urwerk UR-100 กับความเร็วในการโคจรของโลกที่คุณไม่เคยคิดถึงมาก่อน

Urwerk เป็นแบรนด์นาฬิกาที่ผู้คนรู้จักกันด้วยระบบการบอกเวลาที่ไม่ใช้เข็ม แต่มีระบบจานหมุนที่จะพาตัวเลขชั่วโมงให้โคจรเลียบสเกลนาทีไปเรื่อยๆ ตั้งแต่เลข 0 จนถึง 60 เพื่อบอกเวลาในแต่ละชั่วโมง ครั้นเมื่อถึงเวลาขึ้นชั่วโมงถัดไป จานหมุนที่มีตัวเลขชั่วโมงใหม่ก็จะเข้าชิดตำแหน่งเลขนาทีที่ 0 เพื่อรับช่วงต่อจากจานหมุนจานเดิมที่หมดหน้าที่ที่ตำแหน่งเลขนาทีที่ 60 พอดี ดูเผินๆ อาจจะไม่คุ้นตา แต่เมื่อคุณเข้าใจแล้วว่าต้องดูที่ใดก็จะอ่านค่าเวลาได้อย่างรวดเร็ว เหมือนอย่างที่นักสะสมนาฬิกาทั่วโลกคุ้นเคยกับระบบบอกเวลาแบบนี้ของ Urwerk มาตลอดระยะเวลากว่าสองทศวรรษ
UR-100 Spacetime คือนาฬิกา Urwerk รุ่นล่าสุดที่เพิ่งเปิดตัวไปเมื่อสองวันก่อน หน้าตาโดยรวมดูแตกต่างจาก Urwerk รุ่นอื่นๆ ตรงตัวเรือนซึ่งนอกจากจะเรียบเกลี้ยงด้วยการลดทอนรายละเอียดแล้วยังเปิดกว้างให้เห็นการทำงานของกลไกใต้แซฟไฟร์คริสตอลมากกว่าปกติด้วย
ตัวเลขที่อยู่ทางด้านซ้ายและขวาซึ่งมีคำว่า “ROTAT.” และ “REVOL.” กำกับนั้นมีความหมายที่ใครก็นึกไม่ถึง เลขชุดแรกทางซ้ายบอกเราว่าในระยะเวลา 20 นาทีที่ปลายเข็มสีแดงเดินผ่านสเกลนั้น โลกเราได้หมุนรอบแกนของตัวเองไปแล้วเป็นระยะทาง 555 กิโลเมตร (หากวัดจากจุดที่อยู่บนเส้นศูนย์สูตร) เลขชุดสองทางขวาบอกว่าในเวลา 20 นาทีเดียวกันนั้นเองโลกเราได้โคจรรอบดวงอาทิตย์ไปแล้วไกลถึง 35,740 กิโลเมตร ทั้งหมดนี้คือถ้าไม่บอกก็ไม่รู้เลยและไม่ได้คิดถึงด้วย ทาง Urwerk เองบอกว่ามันคือไอเดียให้คนได้คิดในเชิงปรัชญาเท่านั้น ไม่ได้จะให้เราใช้สเกลทั้งสองนี้เพื่อประโยชน์อะไรในชีวิตจริง และนี่คือที่มาของชื่อรุ่นว่า Spacetime
ถ้าจะพูดถึงองค์ประกอบที่มีประโยชน์จริงนั้นก็ต้องไปดูต่อกันทางด้านหลังของตัวเรือน เครื่องนาฬิการุ่น 12.01 นี้มีกำลังลานสำรอง 48 ชั่วโมง ขึ้นลานด้วยโรเตอร์ที่มีชิ้นส่วนพิเศษรูปทรงคล้ายใบพัดอยู่ตรงกลางตุ้มน้ำหนักเพื่อช่วยลดแรงสั่นสะเทือนที่อาจจะส่งไปถึงชุดลูกปืนของโรเตอร์ได้หากนาฬิกามีการเคลื่อนไหวอย่างรุนแรง ส่วนพื้นที่สีดำที่เห็นมีการเจาะรูโดยทั่วไปนั้นเป็นเพียงการตกแต่งให้ดูสวยงามเท่านั้น ไม่ได้มีหน้าที่ใดเป็นพิเศษ
Urwerk UR-100 Spacetime มีให้เลือกซื้อสองเวอร์ชั่นด้วยกัน ได้แก่ Iron (ตัวเรือนสเตนเลสสตีล วงแหวนฝาหลังไทเทเนียม) และ Black (วัสดุเดียวกันกับรุ่นแรกแต่มีการเคลือบดำด้วยกระบวนการพีวีดี) แต่ละเวอร์ชั่นผลิตเป็นจำนวนจำกัด 25 เรือนและตั้งราคาไว้เท่ากันที่ 1,848,000 บาท

Urwerk is known for orbital satellite system of time indication where traditional hands are replaced by hour numeral satellites that travel along an arched minute scale. At the beginning of the new hour, the next satellite would glide effortlessly in at 0 to replace the outgoing one at 60. This genius rotation-based design may appear daunting at first, but it is in fact highly intuitive once you know where to look. Watch collectors have long since accustomed themselves to this and Urwerk’s variations on the theme over the past two decades.
The UR-100 Spacetime is the latest Urwerk watch introduced. It is noticeably different from most Urwerk watches you see with the minimalistic case with reduced details and increased exposure of the mechanism underneath the sapphire crystal dome.
The two numerical indications marked “ROTAT.” and “REVOL.” on the left and the right serve a more philosophical purpose than a practical one. They remind you that, within the time period of 20 minutes that the red tipped hand travels along the corresponding scale, the earth has rotated on its own axis by the distance of 555 kilometres if measured at the equator, and that earth has revolved 35,740 kilometres around the sun. Both numbers are mind-boggling indeed, and they are the reason for this particular watch to be given the Spacetime moniker.
One other element of note is to be found on the back. While the black porous disc of the winding rotor is more of a design element, the flat turbine on the periphery is there to serve a function. No, it does not add to the winding efficiency to build up the 48 hours power reserve of Calibre 12.01, but rather to minimise shocks to the rotor bearing while the watch is subject to a harsh movement.
Urwerk UR-100 Spacetime is presented in two versions of Iron (stainless steel case with titanium caseback ring) and Black (the same with black PVD coating). Each version is limited to 25 pieces and comes with the same price tag of 1,848,000 baht.
