โครงการ Seiko Save The Ocean เดินหน้าอนุรักษ์ทะเลไทยอย่างยั่งยืนเป็นครั้งที่ 5

Seiko Thailand ตระหนักดีว่าที่ผ่านมานั้นกิจกรรมต่างๆ ของมนุษย์ส่งผลต่อสภาพความสมบูรณ์ของสิ่งแวดล้อมทางทะเลเป็นอย่างมาก จึงได้ริเริ่มโครงการที่มีชื่อว่า Seiko Save The Sea ขึ้นมาเมื่อราว 5 ปีก่อนแล้วจึงขยายขอบเขตและความจริงจังขึ้นจนใช้ชื่อใหม่ว่า Seiko Save The Ocean เรื่อยมา รูปแบบของกิจกรรมภายใต้โครงการนี้ก็มีวิวัฒนาการอย่างต่อเนื่องด้วยเช่นกัน จากช่วงแรกเริ่มที่เน้นเรื่องการสร้างความตระหนักให้กับคนหมู่มากเป็นหลักก็พัฒนาต่อไปเป็นการสร้างความเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างยั่งยืนให้กับชุมชนและพื้นที่ของทะเลไทยบางจุดโดยเฉพาะ ด้วยความมุ่งหวังว่าการเริ่มต้นจากจุดเล็กๆ เช่นนี้จะนำไปสู่การฟื้นฟูท้องทะเลไทยในวงกว้างได้ต่อไปตามลำดับ
World of Watches/Luxuo Thailand มีโอกาสได้เข้าร่วมทริปประจำปีของ Seiko Save The Ocean อยู่หลายครั้ง และล่าสุดในปีนี้เราก็ร่วมกับคณะเจ้าหน้าที่ พันธมิตรทางธุรกิจและลูกค้าของ Seiko เมื่อวันที่ 11-13 มีนาคม เดินทางไปยังชุมชนชาวประมงแหลมตุ๊กแกของจังหวัดภูเก็ตเพื่อร่วมสร้างบ้านปลาจากวัสดุธรรมชาติอย่างเช่นไม้และทางมะพร้าวเพื่อนำไปหย่อนในทะเลให้กลายเป็นแหล่งอนุบาลสัตว์ทะเล ทั้งนี้ก็เพื่อเป็นการทดแทนประชากรสัตว์ทะเลที่มนุษย์จับมาเป็นอาหาร และช่วยให้ชาวประมงในพื้นที่สามารถประกอบอาชีพบนพื้นฐานแห่งความสมบูรณ์ของทะเลในแถบนี้ต่อไป
ไม่เพียงเท่านั้น Seiko Thailand ยังมีการร่วมกับอุทยานแห่งชาติหาดนพรัตน์ธารา-หมู่เกาะพีพี ซ่อมแซมแนวปะการังในแถบหมู่เกาะพีพีที่ถูกทำลายด้วยการใช้แท่นปะการังเทียมซึ่ง SCG เป็นผู้ผลิตขึ้นรูปโดยการใช้เทคโนโลยีการพิมพ์ 3 มิติจนมีรูปทรงที่เป็นธรรมชาติ มีสภาพพื้นผิวเหมาะสมสำหรับกับการยึดเกาะของตัวอ่อนปะการังและมีโครงสร้างที่อำนวยให้สิ่งมีชีวิตเข้าไปอยู่อาศัยได้ ทั้งนี้ เพื่อเป็นการฟื้นฟูทรัพยากรทางทะเลอย่างยั่งยืนในระยะยาว เมื่อทราบถึงเจตนารมณ์ดีเช่นนี้แล้ว หากใครมีไอเดียในการอนุรักษ์ที่แปลกใหม่ก็อย่าลืมนำไปเสนอกับ Seiko Thailand โดยตรง เผื่อว่าจะได้มีโอกาสได้ช่วยเหลือทะเลไทยและทะเลโลกในวิธีการอื่นๆ กันอย่างต่อเนื่องในอนาคต

Realizing that human activities presented serious effects to the integrity of marine environment, Seiko Thailand initiated the Seiko Save The Sea program five years ago to help address the situation. It quickly evolved into Seiko Save The Ocean with broadened objectives and even more sophisticated strategies. The program continues to help promote awareness among members of the general public, but it also seeks to make even more impactful changes at the community level, with the hope that such small initiatives will expand into a wider improvement of the Thai seas over the years.
World of Watches/Luxuo Thailand has had the pleasure of participating in several of these annual trips by Seiko Save The Ocean. Most recently, we joined Seiko staff members, their business partners and customers on a trip to Phuket from 11 to 13 March. The first part of the program involved the building of triangular houses from wood and coconut leaves that were subsequently sunk to the seabed. These
simple constructs make it easier for younger fish to survive and become future catches of the villagers who can then make a living for their families.
For the second part of the program, Seiko Thailand worked with the Hat Nappharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park on the restoration of a coral reef off Phi Phi Island. To this end, SCG was commissioned to build artificial reef blocks from 3D printed concrete. These blocks took after natural forms and were textured in such a way that young corals find it easy to cling onto. They also provide shelter for other living creatures as well, contributing to the overall rehabilitation of the spot in the long run. We believe Seiko Thailand is open to more ideas so for the future editions so be sure to approach them if you have any specific recommendation in mind.
