นิทรรศการคอลเลคชั่น Rare Handcrafts ครั้งที่ใหญ่ที่สุดที่เคยจัดมาที่ Patek Philippe Salons ณ กรุงเจนีวา ประเทศสวิตเซอร์แลนด์

Patek Philippe นับเป็นแบรนด์นาฬิกาเก่าแก่ที่มีรากฐานงานฝีมือช่างนาฬิกาแห่งกรุงเจนีวามาตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ. 1839 ซึ่งแม้ว่าจะผ่านมากว่า 185 ปีแล้วก็ตาม แบรนด์ก็ยังคงมุ่งมั่นที่จะสืบสาน อนุรักษ์ เทคนิคและประเพณีดั้งเดิมของการประกอบนาฬิกาจักรกลและงานฝีมือช่างประดิษฐ์นาฬิกาชั้นสูงให้คงอยู่ต่อไป ซึ่งเราจะเห็นได้จากการได้เข้าเยี่ยมชมพิพิธภัณฑ์ของ Patek Philippe ที่กรุงเจนีวานี้เอง ที่ไม่เพียงจัดแสดงคอลเลคชั่นนาฬิกาของแบรนด์ตั้งแต่ปีก่อตั้งจนถึงปัจจุบันเท่านั้น หากยังมีนาฬิกาโบราณหายากตั้งแต่ยุคศตวรรษที่ 16 จนถึงศตวรรษที่ 19 ซึ่งล้วนแล้วแต่งดงามและทรงคุณค่าในเรื่องของศิลปะการตกแต่งและความคิดสร้างสรรค์
และในปีนี้ Patek Philippe จึงถือโอกาสในช่วงงานแสดงนาฬิการะดับโลก Watches & Wonders ณ กรุงเจนีวา จัดแสดงนิทรรศการ Rare Handcrafts 2024 ขึ้นที่ Patek Philippe Salons บนถนนรูดูโรน ระหว่างวันที่ 13 – 27 เมษายนที่ผ่านมา เพื่อตอกย้ำถึงความมุ่งมั่นในการเป็นผู้พิทักษ์งานช่างและงานประดิษฐ์นาฬิกาแบบดั้งเดิมไว้ และยังแสดงศักยภาพในการหลอมรวมนวัตกรรมใหม่ๆ เทคนิคพิเศษเข้ามาประกอบกับเทคนิคโบราณสร้างสรรค์เป็นผลงานเลอค่านับไม่ถ้วน
โดยนิทรรศการครั้งนี้ได้รวบรวมเรือนเวลาพิเศษมากถึง 82 เรือนด้วยกัน ประกอบไปด้วย นาฬิการูปทรงโดมและนาฬิการูปทรงโดมขนาดเล็กจำนวน 27 เรือน นาฬิกาตั้งโต๊ะจำนวน 3 เรือน นาฬิกาพกจำนวน 9 เรือน และนาฬิกาข้อมือจำนวน 43 เรือน ที่ต่างก็อวดความสง่างามของงานฝีมือช่างศิลปะเทคนิคแขนงต่างๆ ที่ถูกถ่ายทอดมาเป็นระยะเวลายาวนานหลายศตวรรษ อาทิ การเคลือบลงยาอินาเมลแบบกรองด์ เฟอ ครัวซอนเน (grand feu cloisonné enamel) การวาดภาพขนาดเล็กบนการเคลือบลงยาอินาเมล (miniature painting on enamel) การเคลือบลงยาอินาเมลแบบกรีซายล์ (grisaille enamel) การเคลือบลงยาอินาเมลแบบฟลินเก้ (flinqué enamel) การเคลือบลงยาอินาเมลแบบไปยอนเน่ (paillonné enamel) การเคลือบลงยาอินาเมลแบบชอมเลอเว (champlevé enamel) การแกะสลักด้วยมือ (hand engraving) การสลักลวดลายด้วยมือแบบกิโยเช่ (hand-executed guilloché work) การประดับตกแต่งอัญมณี (gemsetting) รวมถึงเทคนิคใหม่อย่าง การฝังประดับด้วยไม้ขนาดเล็ก (micro wood marquetry) และการเคลือบลงยาแบบลองวีย์บนวัสดุแบบเซรามิค (longwy enamel on faience) และเทคนิคผสมผสาน เช่น การเคลือบลงยาอินาเมลคลัวซอนเนร่วมกับการสลักลวดลายด้วยมือแบบกิโยเช่ หรือการสลักลวดลายด้วยมือร่วมกับการฝังประดับด้วยไม้ขนาดเล็ก เป็นต้น
พื้นที่จัดแสดงถูกแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ส่วนด้วยกัน ได้แก่ ส่วนที่จัดแสดงนาฬิกาเกี่ยวกับกลุ่มดาวในจักรราศีต่างๆ ซึ่งไฮไลท์จะอยู่ที่นาฬิกากลุ่มดาวจักรราศีรุ่น Calatrava จำนวน 12 เรือนที่รังสรรค์หน้าปัดขึ้นด้วยการผสมผสานเทคนิคต่างๆ เข้าด้วยกัน ไม่ว่าจะเป็น การเคลือบลงยาอินาเมลแบบกรีซายล์ อูบลองเดลิโมจส์ (grisaille enamel au blanc de limoges) การเคลือบลงยาอินาเมลแบบกรองด์ เฟอ ครัวซอนเน และ การเคลือบลงยาอินาเมลแบบไปยอนเน่ ในส่วนที่สองจะอุทิศให้กับความงดงามของธรรมชาติและสิงสาราสัตว์ ซึ่งก็จะมีทั้งนาฬิกาตั้งโต๊ะ นาฬิกาพกและนาฬิกาข้อมือที่รังสรรค์ขึ้นมาอย่างประณีตและมีสีสันที่สดใสงดงามด้วยเทคนิคต่างๆ กันออกไป ชุดที่โดดเด่นเป็นพิเศษก็คือ ชุดที่ไฮไลท์นกกระยางขาว ที่วิจิตตระการตาด้วยเทคนิคที่ต่างๆ เช่น นาฬิกาพก “Portrait of a White Egret” รหัส 995/143G-001 ที่งดงามอ่อนช้อยด้วยเทคนิคการฝังประดับด้วยไม้ขนาดเล็กผสานกับการเคลือบลงยาอินาเมลแบบฟลินเก้ เป็นต้น
ในส่วนสุดท้ายจะเป็นการอุทิศให้กับความมุมานะของมนุษย์ สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความสามารถของมนุษย์ในหลากหลายมุมมองไม่ว่าจะเป็นศิลปะ วัฒนธรรมและกีฬา เช่น นาฬิกาตั้งโต๊ะทรงโดม “American Trains” รหัส 20155M-001 ที่นำเสนอหัวรถจักรไอน้ำโดยมีฉากหลังเป็นตึกระฟ้ามหานครนิวยอร์กที่ถูกแต่งแต้มและรังสรรค์ขึ้นด้วยการผสมผสานเทคนิคการเคลือบลงยาอินาเมลแบบกรองด์ เฟอ ครัวซอนเน เทคนิคการเคลือบลงยาอินาเมลแบบไปยอนเน่ และการวาดภาพขนาดเล็กบนการเคลือบลงยาอินาเมลเข้าไว้ด้วยกัน เป็นต้น
นอกจากนี้ในพื้นที่การจัดแสดงนิทรรศการ ทางแบรนด์ยังได้มีพื้นที่สาธิตโดยช่างฝีมือแกะสลัก ช่างอินาเมล ช่างกิโยเช่ที่ใช้เครื่องมือดั้งเดิม และช่างฉลุไม้ของแบรนด์มาให้เราได้ชมกันอย่างใกล้ชิดอีกด้วย ซึ่งหากใครพลาดนิทรรศการในครั้งนี้ก็ไม่ต้องเสียใจ เพราะจะมีการจัดแสดงอีกครั้งในวันที่ 7 – 16 มิถุนายน 2024 ที่ Patek Philippe Salons บนถนนบอนด์ ณ กรุงลอนดอน ประเทศอังกฤษ ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นการจัดแสดงเพื่อต้อนรับการกลับมาเปิดหลังจากการปรับปรุงซาลอนครั้งล่าสุด สนใจสามารถศึกษาข้อมูลและลงทะเบียนเข้าชมนิทรรศการได้ที่เว็บไซท์ของแบรนด์โดยตรง

Established in 1839 in Geneva, Patek Philippe is world renowned for its artisanal roots. Now 185 years old and counting, the brand remains committed to preserving and perpetuating traditional techniques of fine watchmaking. Visitors to the Patek Philippe museum in Geneva will find not only the various clock and watch collections from the year of its founding to the present, but also rare works from the 16th to 19th centuries, invaluable objects and living testaments to great creativity and decorative flair.
Patek Philippe’s commitment to keeping traditional watchmaking and craftsmanship alive while continuing to incorporate new innovations and techniques is on full display annually at the Rare Handcrafts exhibition, the latest instalment of which premiered at the Patek Philippe Salons on the rue du Rhône during 13-27 April, coinciding with the final days of Watches and Wonders 2024.
The exhibition featured 82 timepieces, including 27 dome clocks, 3 table clocks, 9 pocket watches and 43 wristwatches. Each of these masterpieces represents technical and craftsmanship excellence honed over centuries. The high crafts on display ranged from refined enameling techniques such as grand feu cloisonné, grisaille, flinqué, paillonné and champlevé, to miniature painting on enamel, hand engraving, hand-executed guilloché work and gem-setting, to newer techniques such as wood micro-marquetry and longwy enamel on faience, to combinations of techniques including cloisonné enameling on a guilloché background, and hand engraving along with wood micro-marquetry.
The exhibition was divided into 3 sections. One was dedicated to astronomical timepieces, including 12 Calatrava models whose dials are crafted using a combination of techniques including grisaille enamel au blanc de Limoges, grand feu cloisonné and paillonné enameling. The second section featured works inspired by the beauty of nature and wildlife, including desk clocks, pocket watches and wristwatches that showcase a myriad of sophisticated techniques. The highlight of this section was the breathtaking white egret series including the “Portrait of a White Egret pocket watch (ref. 995/143G-001), whose incredible details were executed using wood micro-marquetry and flinqué enamel techniques.
The last section was devoted to human perseverance in different areas, from art and culture to sports. One of the highlights was the “American Trains” dome clock (ref. 20155M-001), which features beautiful train locomotives against the New York skyline. The clock employs several decorative techniques, including grand feu cloisonné and paillonné enameling and miniature enamel painting.
The exhibition space featured a demonstration area where Patek Phillipe engravers, enamellers, traditional guilloché craftsmen and wood carvers gave live demonstrations allowing visitors to closely observe their work. Those who missed the exhibition need not be too disappointed, however. Rare Handcrafts 2024 is scheduled to be presented in London during 7-16 June at the Patek Philippe Salons on Bond Street to mark the salons’ reopening following a recent renovation.
