Omega เปิดตัววัสดุบรอนซ์โกลด์ที่ให้อารมณ์คล้ายบรอนซ์แต่จะไม่ขึ้นคราบอ็อกซิไดซ์เหมือนบรอนซ์

Omega จัดวีดีโอคาสท์จากเบียน ประเทศสวิตเซอร์แลนด์ ช่วงบ่ายวันนี้เพื่อเปิดตัวนาฬิการุ่นใหม่ๆ ของปี ค.ศ. 2021 และเราก็สังเกตเห็นว่า Omega มีการแนะนำวัสดุชนิดใหม่ด้วยโดยมีชื่อเรียกว่าบรอนซ์โกลด์ แต่ฟังแล้วจะเป็นบรอนซ์หรือจะเป็นทอง ต้องอ่านต่อกันอีกสักนิด เพราะวัสดุชนิดนี้มีส่วนประกอบของทองแดง 50% ทอง 37.5% แล้วยังมีเงิน กาลเลียม (อย่าถามว่าคืออะไร) และพัลลาเดียมอีกอย่างละราว 5%
เพื่อเปรียบเทียบให้เห็นภาพ นาฬิกาทองทั่วไปที่เราเห็นเรียกกันว่าเป็นทอง 18 กะรัตนั้นจะต้องมีส่วนผสมของทอง 75% แต่บรอนซ์โกลด์นี้ Omega กล้าพูดเองเลยว่าต้องเรียกว่าเป็นทอง 9 กะรัต เนื่องจากมีทองอยู่เพียง 37.5% แต่จะกี่กะรัตนั้นไม่ใช่ประเด็นสำคัญ เพราะ Omega ตั้งใจพัฒนาวัสดุอัลลอยชนิดนี้เพื่อให้เป็นบรอนซ์แบบหรู กล่าวคือ มีสีชมพูอ่อนๆ อยู่ตรงกลางระหว่างทองมูนไชน์ 18 กะรัต (เยลโลว์โกลด์สูตรพิเศษของ Omega และเซดน่าโกลด์ 18 กะรัต (โรสโกลด์สูตรพิเศษของ Omega) และจะเป็นบรอนซ์อัลลอยที่ไม่ขึ้นคราบสีเขียวเหมือนบรอนซ์ทั่วไปแม้จะผ่านการใช้งานและสัมผัสกับสิ่งต่างๆ ในธรรมชาติหรือผิวหนังของเจ้าของนาฬิกาก็ตาม ขั้นตอนการพัฒนานี้ใช้เวลานาน 2.5 ปีและอาศัยความร่วมมือจากอีกสองบริษัทในเครือ Swatch Group ที่ดำเนินธุรกิจเกี่ยวกับวิศวกรรมและอัลลอยโดยเฉพาะ
เท่าที่ได้เห็นในวีดีโอที่เราไม่สามารถนำมาเผยแพร่ต่อได้ บรอนซ์โกลด์นี้มีความเงางามเหมือนกับทอง มากกว่าที่จะดูด้านแบบบรอนซ์ แต่เอาเป็นว่าขอวิจารณ์หรือวิเคราะห์อีกครั้งเมื่อได้จับต้องเรือนจริงแล้วดีกว่า นาฬิการุ่นแรกที่ได้ใช้วัสดุบรอนซ์โกลด์คือ Seamaster 300 เวอร์ชั่นใหม่ของปี ค.ศ. 2021 ตัวเรือนมีขนาด 41 มม. หน้าปัดเป็นแบบแซนด์วิช ทำงานด้วยเครื่องนาฬิการุ่นคาลิเบอร์ 8912 ซึ่งมีกำลังลานสำรอง 60 ชั่วโมง และผ่านการทดสอบความเที่ยงตรงในระดับมาสเตอร์โครโนมิเตอร์แล้ว สวมใส่ด้วยสายหนังสีน้ำตาลและหัวเข็มขัดวัสดุเดียวกันกับตัวเรือน ราคาเมืองไทยประกาศแล้ว 375,000 บาทเท่านั้น ถูกกว่าที่คาดตอนแรกพอสมควร

Omega staged a videocast this afternoon from Bienne, Switzerland. And among the 2021 novelties presented, we cannot help but notice the introduction of a novel material: bronze gold. So is it bronze or is it gold? Well, it is bronze and gold, if you will indulge. The composition of Bronze Gold is 50% copper, 37.5% gold, plus silver, gallium (what is it anyway) and palladium at the amount of approximately 5% each.
For the purpose of comparison, a typical gold watch has 75% gold content in order to attain the 18K rating. In fact, Omega is willing to offer that the material can be hallmarked as 9K because of the 37.5% gold content, but that is beside the point. The proprietary material, developed over a period of two and a half years with the help of two sister companies within the Swatch Group, offers a pleasing aesthetic of a soft pink hue in between their 18K Moonshine gold (enhanced yellow gold) and 18K Sedna gold (enhanced rose gold). It does not generate verdigris oxidation like typical bronze alloys even after exposure to the elements or direct contact with the skin.
From what we can see, the lustre of the Bronze Gold is more like gold than bronze, but we reserve our judgment until we can handle the product in person. The premiere timepiece for Bronze Gold is the 2021 edition of the Seamaster 300 – itself a beauty of 41 mm, complete with sandwich construction of the dial. Powered by a Master Chronometer certified Calibre 8912 with a power reserve of 60 hours, this Seamaster is worn on a brown leather strap with a buckle in the same material as the watch case. The Thai price is 375,000 baht which is considerably lower than expected, given the novelty and the relative exclusivity.
