An audacious player in the watchmaking industry for 42 years, Hublot has repeatedly proved that it is not only capable of designing unique timepieces but also outstanding in selecting, combining, and developing materials never before seen in watchmaking. And it has consistently used these inventions to drive outside-the-box ideas that resonate with watch lovers worldwide.
The watchmaker has recently brought back the Classic Original from the 1980s and reinterpreted it in yellow gold, titanium and ceramic. All of these new versions are available in three different sizes, 42 mm, 38 mm and 33 mm, to fit different wrist sizes. Back when it was first released, the Classic Original shook up the watch world with its radical and unexpected pairing of a gold case and black rubber strap. The timepiece established a new kind of sophistication that had the entire industry sit up and take notice, opening the way for luxury watchmakers to embrace new possibilities. All through the years Hublot has adhered to this revolutionizing concept as a source of its vision and inspirations in developing successive collections of watches.
The new HUBLOT Classic Fusion Original has echoes of Carlo Crocco’s original design, but the overall look is that of a modern and vibrant simplicity. The polished black dial is embedded in a luxurious case in three choices of material: classic yellow gold, satin-finished and polished titanium, and black ceramic. Different facets of the case feature either a satin or a polished finish to maximize the play of light; the six screws on the bezel recall the original design while imparting a more modern and contemporary look. On the dial, a date window with black background makes for a seamless visual continuity. All variations come with black rubber straps with buckle clasps crafted from the same material as the case.
The Classic Fusion uses two different movements. The 42 mm and 38 mm versions are powered by the caliber HUB1110 with self-winding movement and 42 hours of power reserve, a mechanical movement developed and produced in-house by Hublot, while the 33 mm version is powered by a quartz movement. Thanks to the sapphire crystal caseback, the intricate workings of the mechanical parts can be admired at any time.
