Three limited edition watches feature a new hand-winding movement and a dial of urushi lacquer.

Grand Seiko watches are broadly categorised into three collections: Elegance, Heritage and Sports, with the first one being the dressiest and invariably on a leather strap. Previously introduced models are mostly self-winding with the exception of one or two with a hand-winding movement. Three new limited edition models join the range now with a new hand-winding calibre and a dial worth going into details about.
Executed in a conservative size of 39 mm, the SBGK004 in yellow gold is striking with a domed, jet black dial whose gleaming surface is achieved with the use of urushi lacquer – the traditional Japanese technique is possible only with the use of sap from the urushi trees in the Joboji town to the north of Grand Seiko’s manufactory. Meanwhile, the SBGK002, also in a limited edition of 150 pieces, switches to rose gold with an amber brown urushi dial. This one dazzles with the added pattern detail of Mount Iwate which is a part of the landscape near Grand Seiko’s Morioka manufactory, and an inspiration for the watchmakers and craftsmen who work there.
The last of the limited editions is the 1,500-piece SBGK005 in stainless steel with blue urushi lacquer dial. While the Mount Iwate pattern is maintained, the watch is made even more youthful and striking with meticulously polished applied markers. These watches are powered by the same hand-winding Calibre 9S63 with 72-hour power reserve and accuracy in the range of +5 / -3 seconds per day. In addition to the hour and the minute hands, this movement drives a small second hand at 9 o’clock and a power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock. Delivery of SBGK002, SBGK004 and SBGK005 will start from March.

Grand Seiko แบ่งกลุ่มนาฬิกาในภาพรวมเป็นคอลเลคชั่น Elegance คอลเลคชั่น Heritage และคอลเลคชั่น Sports โดยที่ Elegance นั้นจะเป็นคอลเลคชั่นที่มีตัวเรือนไปในแนวเดรสที่สุดและจะมาคู่กับสายหนังเท่านั้น รุ่นที่ออกมาแต่เดิมนั้นเป็นเครื่องออโต้เกือบทั้งหมด จะมีรุ่นที่เป็นเครื่องไขลานบ้างก็เพียงไม่กี่รุ่น จนกระทั่งมีการเปิดตัวนาฬิกา Grand Seiko Elegance ชุดใหม่ ตัวเรือนขนาด 39 มม. เครื่องไขลาน เป็นลิมิเต็ดเอดิชั่นหน้าปัดสีต่างๆ ในเวลานี้
นาฬิการุ่นใหม่นี้มีหน้าปัดที่ฉีกออกจากดีไซน์เดิมๆ ของ Grand Seiko ด้วยวงเข็มวินาทีที่ตำแหน่ง 9 นาฬิกาและเข็มแสดงพลังงานสำรองที่ตำแหน่ง 3 นาฬิกา ภายในทำงานด้วยเครื่องไขลานรุ่นใหม่คาลิเบอร์ 9S63 ซึ่งมีลานยาวถึง 72 ชั่วโมงและมีความเที่ยงตรงในเกณฑ์ +5 / -3 วินาทีต่อวัน
รุ่นแรกในภาพเปิดคือ SBGK004 เป็นลิมิเต็ดเอดิชั่นจำนวน 150 เรือน ตัวเรือนเยลโลว์โกลด์หน้าปัดทรงโค้งดำสนิทวาววับด้วยการเคลือบพื้นผิวด้วยแลคเกอร์แบบอูรูชิซึ่งเป็นเทคนิคแบบดั้งเดิมของญี่ปุ่นซึ่งจะทำได้ก็ต่อเมื่อใช้ยางไม้จากเมืองโจโบจิซึ่งอยู่ขึ้นไปทางเหนือของโรงงาน Grand Seiko พอดี สำหรับรุ่นที่สอง SBGK002 มี 150 เรือน เช่นกัน เปลี่ยนตัวเรือนเป็นโรสโกลด์ มีการใช้เทคนิคแลคเกอร์แบบอูรูชิเหมือนกันเป็นสีน้ำตาลอำพันแต่เพิ่มเติมลวดลายเส้นละเอียดเหมือนหิมะที่ปกคลุมบนยอดเขาอิวาเตะซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในทิวทัศน์ที่สวยงามและเป็นแรงบันดาลใจของเหล่าช่างแห่งโรงงาน Grand Seiko ที่เมืองโมริโอกะเช่นกัน
ลิมิเต็ดรุ่นสุดท้ายเป็นตัวเรือนสเตนเลสสตีลจำนวน 1,500 เรือนในรหัสรุ่น SBGK005 ซึ่งมีหน้าปัดแบบพื้นลายภูเขาอิวาเตะเช่นกัน แต่ใช่แลคเกอร์สีน้ำเงินเพื่อทำให้ดูอ่อนวัยลงอีก แล้วเพิ่มความเฉียบคมด้วยหลักชั่วโมงแบบโลหะที่ดูมีมิติคมคาย ทั้งสามรุ่นนี้จะเริ่มจำหน่ายในเดือนมีนาคม ใครสนใจก็ติดตามดูกันได้ว่าจะมีของเข้าไทยเมื่อใด
