ปี ค.ศ. 2019 กำลังจะจากเราไปแล้ว เมื่อมองย้อนกลับไปจะเห็นว่าปีนี้เป็นปีที่มีวาระครบรอบมากมายในวงการนาฬิกา ส่วนมากก็เป็นการครบรอบของรุ่นนั้นหรือคอลเลคชั่นนี้ที่หลายคนพอจะคาดเดาล่วงหน้าได้อยู่แล้ว แต่ที่มาแบบไม่ให้ใครตั้งตัวเลยก็คือวาระครบรอบ 50 ปีของนาฬิกาดำน้ำ Glashütte Original ที่น้อยคนจะรู้จักและนำไปสู่การพัฒนานาฬิกา SeaQ รุ่นใหม่ในปีนี้
Glashütte Original คือบริษัทที่เกิดจากการรวบรวมเอากิจการของผู้ผลิตนาฬิการายต่างๆ ในเมืองกลาสฮุตเตอร์ตั้งแต่ก่อนยุคสงครามโลกครั้งที่สองเข้าด้วยกัน นาฬิกา Glashütte Original ในปัจจุบันส่วนมากจะเป็นแนวคลาสสิก ดูเป็นเดรสที่เรียบร้อย จะมีที่ดูออกแนวฟังกี้บ้างก็พวกรุ่น Sixties และ Seventies ในคอลเลคชั่นชื่อ Vintage แต่ที่เป็นแนวสปอร์ตเลยนั้นแทบจะไม่มีให้เห็น อาจเป็นเพราะว่าเดิมทีนั้นนาฬิกาสเปคทนทานพิเศษของแบรนด์นี้จะเป็นรุ่นที่ผลิตให้กับกองทัพหรือผู้ใช้กลุ่มพิเศษเป็นหลักก็ได้ และหนึ่งในเรือนเวลาสำคัญในกลุ่มนั้นก็คือ Spezimatic Type RP TS 200 จากปี ค.ศ. 1969 ซึ่งเป็นพื้นฐานสำคัญให้ Glashütte Original ออกแบบนาฬิกา SeaQ ในวันนี้
Glashütte Original เปิดตัว SeaQ ที่งาน Time to Move เมื่อเดือนพฤษภาคมซึ่งเป็นอีเวนท์พิเศษของปีที่แบรนด์ระดับท็อปจำนวนหกแบรนด์ของ Swatch Group จับมือนำเสนอผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่ของปี ค.ศ. 2019 พร้อมกัน สองรุ่นแรกก็คือ SeaQ 1969 ที่เป็นลิมิเต็ดเอดิชั่นและ SeaQ ที่เป็นรุ่นผลิตแบบไม่จำกัดจำนวน ทั้งสองรุ่นใช้ตัวเรือนสเตนเลสสตีลขนาด 39.5 มม. มีขอบตัวเรือนหมุนได้ทิศทางเดียวสีดำ บนหน้าปัดมีตัวเลขอารบิกตามตำแหน่งชั่วโมงเลขคู่และขีดตรงตามตำแหน่งชั่วโมงเลขคี่
วิธีการแยกว่ารุ่นใดเป็น SeaQ 1969 และรุ่นใดเป็น SeaQ นั้นที่จริงไม่ยาก เพียงสังเกตเข็มก็จะรู้ เพราะว่า SeaQ 1969 มีสารเรืองแสงสีเขียวบนเข็ม แต่เข็มของ SeaQ มีสารเรืองแสงสีเบจเหมือนกับตัวเลขและขีดชั่วโมงบนพื้นหน้าปัด ตัวหนังสือที่เขียนบนหน้าปัดนาฬิกาสองรุ่นนี้ก็ต่างกันเล็กน้อยด้วย กล่าวคือ รุ่น SeaQ 1969 ที่ผลิตเพียง 69 เรือนนี้จะเขียนตามสำนวนโบราณเหมือนบนหน้าปัด Spezimatic รุ่นดั้งเดิมที่บอกจำนวนรูบี้ในเครื่องนาฬิกาว่ามีกี่เม็ดและมีคำว่า “shockproof” ส่วนรุ่น SeaQ นั้นจะเขียนว่า “Glashütte I/SA” เหมือนนาฬิกา Glashütte Original สมัยใหม่ส่วนมากหรือทั้งหมด เพื่อบ่งบอกว่านาฬิกาเรือนนี้ผลิตที่เมืองกลาสฮุตเตอร์ในแคว้นแซกโซนีของประเทศเยอรมนี แซฟไฟร์คริสตอลของนาฬิกาทั้งสองรุ่นนี้มีการเคลือบสารป้องกันแสงสะท้อนทั้งด้านในและด้านนอกจึงทำให้เจ้าของนาฬิกาชื่นชมรายละเอียดบนหน้าปัดได้จากทุกมุมมอง
SeaQ 1969 และ SeaQ ใช้เครื่องออโต้รุ่น 39-11 ซึ่งมีกำลังลานสำรอง 40 ชั่วโมง ฝาหลังของนาฬิกาทั้งสองรุ่นนี้เป็นแบบทึบตามแบบฉบับของนาฬิกาในยุคสมัยก่อนนั้น บนฝาหลังมีการแกะสลักรูปหอกสามง่าม สัญลักษณ์ตัวจีคู่ของ Glashütte Original และลายคลื่น 20 เส้นเพื่อสื่อถึงระดับการกันน้ำ 20 บาร์ (เทียบเท่า 200 เมตร) แต่จะมีเฉพาะรุ่น SeaQ เท่านั้นที่มีสายโลหะด้วย ในขณะที่ SeaQ 1969 จะมาพร้อมสายยางสีดำหรือสายผ้าสีเทาเท่านั้น
แต่นาฬิกา SeaQ ไม่ได้มีดีแค่เรื่องการถอดแบบจากอดีตเท่านั้น เพราะนี่คือนาฬิกาสปอร์ตที่พร้อมจริงสำหรับทุกกิจกรรมในชีวิต ตามคำบรรยายของทางแบรนด์จากเยอรมนีที่ระบุว่า “SeaQ เป็นนาฬิกาสำหรับชายที่แกร่งกล้าและมีใจรักในการผจญภัย ชอบลงมือทำอะไรเองและมีความมุ่งมั่นที่จะทำให้ชีวิตเป็นอย่างที่เขาต้องการ” และตัวแทนที่จะพา SeaQ สู่อนาคตอย่างเต็มภาคภูมิก็คือ SeaQ Panorama Date รุ่นนี้
ตัวเรือนของ SeaQ Panorama Date มีขนาดใหญ่ขึ้นเป็น 43.2 มม. เพื่อให้กันน้ำได้ถึงระดับ 300 เมตร และเพื่อรองรับฟังก์ชั่นพาโนรามาเดทอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์สำคัญของ Glashütte Original หน้าต่างวันที่ขนาดใหญ่ที่ตำแหน่งสี่นาฬิกานี้แสดงค่าตัวเลขหลักสิบและหลักหน่วยด้วยจานหมุนสองจานแยกกัน ทำให้ SeaQ Panorama Date มีจุดเด่นที่แตกต่างจากนาฬิกาดำน้ำอื่นๆ ในตลาด และด้วยความที่ผู้ซื้อนาฬิกาสมัยนี้ต่างก็เป็นคนมีสไตล์ที่ใส่ใจในเรื่องของการแต่งตัว นอกจากรุ่นหน้าปัดสีดำกับสารเรืองแสงสีเขียวแล้ว Glashütte Original จึงเลือกผลิต SeaQ Panorama Date แบบหน้าปัดสีน้ำเงินกับสารเรืองแสงสีขาวด้วยเป็นอีกทางเลือกหนึ่งที่น่าสนใจ ทั้งสองสีเงางามเล่นกับไฟในทุกองศาด้วยลวดลายซันเรย์บนหน้าปัดและหลักชั่วโมงแบบโลหะผนึกติด
ความพิเศษยังคงมีให้เห็นได้ต่อเนื่องทางด้านหลังของนาฬิกา เพราะฝาหลังแบบแซฟไฟร์คริสตอลที่เปิดให้เห็นสถาปัตยกรรมแบบธรีควอเตอร์เพลท สวอนเน็คเรกูเลเตอร์และบาลานซ์วีลพร้อมซิลิคอนแฮร์สปริงของเครื่องออโต้รุ่น 36-13 โรเตอร์ขึ้นลานแกะฉลุเป็นสัญลักษณ์ตัวจีคู่และถ่วงน้ำหนักด้วยทอง 21 กะรัตเพื่อประสิทธิภาพในการขึ้นลานให้ได้เต็ม 100 ชั่วโมง แต่กำลังลานสำรองอันยาวนานนี้อาจไม่จำเป็นก็ได้เพราะว่าเจ้าของนาฬิกาอาจจะใส่ SeaQ Panorama Date จนติดใจและติดข้อแบบไม่ยอมถอด ไม่ว่าจะสวมใส่ด้วยสายโลหะ สายผ้าสีเทาหรือสายยางสีดำก็ตาม
Glashütte Original เป็นบริษัทผู้ผลิตนาฬิกาที่มีศักยภาพสูง สามารถผลิตเครื่องนาฬิกาใช้เองได้โดยไม่ต้องพึ่งซัพพลายเออร์ภายนอก โรงงานหลักของ Glashütte Original ตั้งอยู่ที่เมืองกลาสฮุตเตอร์ใกล้ชายแดนเยอรมนีและเชค แต่ทางแบรนด์ยังมีโรงงานอีกแห่งหนึ่งที่ฟอร์ซไฮม์เพื่อผลิตหน้าปัดนาฬิกาโดยเฉพาะอย่างที่บริษัทนาฬิกาน้อยแบรนด์นักจะมี ถ้าจะพูดถึงเรื่องกระบวนการผลิตก็คงจะยาวจนต้องเปิดเป็นอีกบทความหนึ่ง ในเวลานี้ขอสรุปแบบตัดตอนเพียงสั้นๆ เลยว่างานผลิตของ Glashütte Original จากเยอรมนีนี้ไม่เป็นรองแบรนด์สวิสในระดับราคาเดียวกันแน่นอน ทั้งยังเป็นแบรนด์ที่มีศักดิ์ศรีน่าเคารพในวงการนาฬิกาด้วย เพียงแค่ว่าคนทั่วไปนอกวงการจะไม่ทราบถึงความพิเศษดังกล่าวนี้เท่านั้นเอง
ในฐานะสมาชิกของคอลเลคชั่น Spezialist นาฬิกา SeaQ จึงมีคุณสมบัติตามมาตรฐานนาฬิกาดำน้ำ DIN 8306 ของประเทศเยอรมนีและมาตรฐานนาฬิกาดำน้ำสากล ISO 6425 และทุกเรือนจะต้องผ่านการทดสอบอย่างจริงจังเพื่อมอบความมั่นใจสูงสุดให้กับผู้ใช้ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการทดสอบสอบประสิทธิภาพในการกันน้ำ ความทนทานต่อแรงดันที่สูงกว่าปกติอย่างในสภาวะใต้น้ำลึก ความทนทานต่อแรงดันที่ต่ำกว่าปกติอย่างบนภูเขาสูงหรือเครื่องบิน หลังจากที่ผ่านการทดสอบเป็นเวลา 24 วันแล้วจึงมีการออกใบประกาศนียบัตรรับรองให้ด้วย สมกับความหมายของตัว “Q” ในชื่อ SeaQ ที่หมายถึง “quality” จริงๆ
นาฬิกา SeaQ รุ่นสายผ้าหรือสายยางกับหัวเข็มขัดราคา 324,000 บาท รุ่นสายผ้าหรือสายยางกับบานพับราคา 336,000 บาท รุ่นสายสเตนเลสสตีลราคา 370,000 บาท นาฬิกา SeaQ Panorama Date สายผ้าหรือสายยางกับหัวเข็มขัดราคา 419,000 บาท รุ่นสายผ้าหรือสายยางกับบานพับราคา 431,000 บาท รุ่นสายสเตนเลสสตีลราคา 465,000 บาท สำหรับ SeaQ 1969 ซึ่งเป็นลิมิเต็ดเอดิชั่นจำนวน 69 เรือนนั้นไม่มีการประกาศราคาเป็นบาทอย่างเป็นทางการ หากสนใจต้องสอบถามตัวแทนจำหน่ายอีกครั้งหนึ่งเนื่องจากของจะเข้าประเทศไทยต่อเมื่อมีลูกค้าสั่งเท่านั้น

The year 2019 is marked by several watch-related anniversaries. While most of them were anticipated, one particular tribute was not. We are talking about the surprise launch of the SeaQ watches by Glashütte Original, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the original watch that inspired its creation.
Glashütte Original represents the legal successor of the collective Glashütte watchmaking industry, which dates from before World War II. Their present day watches are mostly classical in terms of styling, with a few funky exceptions like the Sixties and the Seventies watches under the Vintage collection. Sportive Glashütte Original watches were few and far between as the company mainly supplied the pieces to special users such as the military and not the general consumers.
One obscure gem includes the Spezimatic Type RP TS 200 from 1969. The historic diver’s watch provides the vital frame of reference upon which the new SeaQ range has been developed.
The big reveal for SeaQ came during the Time to Move event in May this year where six top Swatch Group brands showcased their 2019 novelties. First up are the limited edition SeaQ 1969 and the regular production SeaQ. They closely resemble the original watch with a 39.5 mm stainless steel case, a black unidirectional rotating bezel and a dial with bold Arabic numerals for all even-numbered hours.
To tell the two apart, you only need to look at the hands – the SeaQ 1969 features green lume on them like the original, while the SeaQ offers beige lume on the hands to match the rest of the dial. The writing on the dial is also slightly different with the 69-piece limited edition showing the rubies count and the shockproof declaration as on the original Spezimatic. The regular production model, on the other hand, bears the Glashütte in Saxony origin text like most, if not all, current Glashütte Original watches. Owners can appreciate the fine details on the dial from all angles, thanks to the anti-reflective coating on both the inside and outside of the sapphire crystal.
Both SeaQ 1969 and SeaQ watches share the same self-winding Calibre 39-11 whose power reserve is 40 hours. To be most correct to the period, the caseback is solid with engraving of the trident symbol, the Glashütte Original Double-G and 20 waves to signify 20-bar (200-metre) water resistance. Only the SeaQ is available on a bracelet in addition to the black rubber strap and grey synthetic fabric strap.
Beyond historical references, the SeaQ range is designed as practical sports watches for everyday use. In fact, the German brand proposes that it is “aimed at the fearless and adventurous man with a hands-on mentality and the will to actively create his own life”. That brings us to the last member of the SeaQ family: the SeaQ Panorama Date.
At 43.2 mm, the watch retains the overall aesthetics of the collection while increasing water resistance to 300 metres. It also adds the Panorama Date – a Glashütte Original signature – to the four o’clock position on the dial. The feature makes all the difference with two discs on the same plane for each digit of the date. This sets the SeaQ Panorama Date apart from the other dive watches in the market while remaining quite subtle with a background colour that matches the dial. And as contemporary watch buyers are more sartorially inclined than those in the past, the watch is available in a blue dial with white lume in addition to one in black with green lume. Coupled with the sunray finish and applied numerals and indexes, the radiance is irresistible!
More joy can be found on the back as the sapphire crystal caseback allows a full view of the self-winding Calibre 36-13. Above the three-quarter plate architecture, the famous swan neck regulator and the balance wheel with a silicon hairspring, a winding rotor with skeletonised Double-G symbol and 21K gold weight works with the motion of your hand or arm to build up the power reserve of 100 hours. That generous autonomous running time may not be all that necessary though, as the watch owner will want to enjoy it on the bracelet, the grey synthetic fabric strap or the black rubber strap.
Glashütte Original is a highly integrated watch company, crafting their own movements for their timepieces in the distant town near the German-Czech border. They also own and operate a dial factory in Pforzheim – a privilege enjoyed by only a few watch companies in the world. We can write a whole article about the manufactory itself but let’s save that for another time. For the purpose of this immediately discussion, it is sufficient to say that the level of craftsmanship is not inferior to the Swiss counterparts in the same price bracket at all. Glashütte Original watches are prestigious – they command the respect of global consumers, beyond those who are informed about watchmaking, or even German watchmaking in particular.
All SeaQ watch models are presented under the Spezialist collection. They are subjected to a series of stringent tests to ensure maximum reliability. They comply with the German DIN 8306 standard and the international ISO 6425 standard for diver’s watches. Every single watch is tested over a period of 24 days in order to verify its resistance against water, overpressure (extreme underwater depths) and underpressure (high altitude environments). A certificate issued for the individual watches attests to these test results.
Pricing of the SeaQ 1969 limited edition of 69 pieces is available upon request by the retailer. For SeaQ, the prices are 324,000 baht (strap version with pin buckle), 336,000 baht (strap version with folding buckle) and 370,000 baht (bracelet version). For SeaQ Panorama Date, the prices are 419,000 baht, 431,000 baht and 465,000 baht, respectively, for the three strap or bracelet combinations.
