Neo Constant Escapement นำเสนอคอนเซปท์เดิมในรูปลักษณ์ที่ร่วมสมัยยิ่งขึ้น

Girard-Perregaux สร้างปรากฏการณ์ให้กับวงการนาฬิกาเมื่อ 10 ปีก่อนด้วยเรือนเวลาที่มีชื่อว่า Constant Escapement L.M. ซึ่งสามารถคว้ารางวัลใหญ่ Aiguille d’Or จากรายการ GPHG ในปีนั้นไปได้ คุณสมบัติหลักของนาฬิการุ่นดังกล่าวคือการทำให้เรทคงที่ ไม่ว่าระดับลานจะเหลือมากหรือน้อยเพียงใด ทั้งนี้ด้วยการใช้ชิ้นส่วนรูปทรงเฉพาะที่มีลักษณะเป็นแผ่นบางและผลิตจากซิลิเซียมซึ่งสามารถรักษาแอมปลิจูดให้สม่ำเสมอได้ และในปีนี้ Girard-Perregaux ก็ได้เปิดตัวผลงานรุ่นใหม่ที่เป็นการวิวัฒนาการต่อยอดจากดีไซน์เดิม โดยใช้ชื่อว่า Neo Constant Escapement
สิ่งหนึ่งที่เปลี่ยนไปอย่างชัดเจนก็คือว่าขณะนี้เข็มบอกเวลาทั้ง 3 เข็มอยู่ตรงกลางหน้าปัดแล้ว ทำให้อ่านค่าเวลาได้ง่ายขึ้นและดูยิ่งใหญ่กว่าเดิมที่เข็มชั่วโมงและเข็มนาทีของรุ่น Constant Escapement L.M. นั้นถูกจัดวางไว้ในหน้าปัดขนาดเล็กบริเวณ 12 นาฬิกา ขนาดตัวเรือนถูกลดลงจาก 48 มม. เป็น 45 มม. จึงสวมใส่สะดวกขึ้น และมีน้ำหนักเบาด้วยเนื่องจากผลิตจากไทเทเนียมเกรด 5 ในขณะเดียวกัน กำลังลานสำรองก็เพิ่มขึ้นจากเดิม 6 วันซึ่งก็เรียกว่ามากอยู่แล้วก็กลายเป็น 7 วัน
แม้ว่าผลงานรุ่นนี้จะไม่ใช่เรือนเวลาสไตล์คลาสสิกที่ขายงานขัดแต่งแบบดั้งเดิม แต่ Neo Constant Escapement ก็มีรายละเอียดในด้านการออกแบบที่สืบทอดมากจากแนวคิดตั้งแต่โบราณของ Girard-Perregaux อย่างน้อยเราจะเห็นได้ว่าสถาปัตยกรรมของตัวเครื่องนั้นผ่านกระบวนการไตร่ตรองมาเป็นอย่างดีให้เกิดความสมมาตรสูงสุดระหว่างข้างซ้ายและข้างขวา ไม่ว่าคุณจะมองดูนาฬิการุ่นนี้จากทางด้านหน้าหรือด้านหลังก็ตาม แม้แต่บริเวณ 9 นาฬิกาที่ต้องมีเข็มบอกกำลังลานสำรองแบบเส้นตรง Girard-Perregaux ก็เลือกพิมพ์ข้อความ “Constant Escapement Chronometer” ไว้ด้านตรงข้ามตรงตำแหน่ง 3 นาฬิกาเพื่อถ่วงดุลไว้อย่างสวยงาม ถือเป็นอีกหนึ่งเรือนเวลาที่มีดีเอ็นเอชัดเจน สามารถบอกได้ว่าเป็นของแบรนด์อะไรต่อให้ไม่มีโลโก้ติดอยู่ก็ตาม
Girard-Perregaux Neo Constant Escapement สวมใส่ด้วยสายยางสีดำที่มีการตกแต่งพื้นผิวให้เกิดลวดลายดูคล้ายกับผ้า กำหนดวางจำหน่ายเริ่มต้นตั้งแต่เดือนมกราคม ค.ศ. 2024 และเป็นนาฬิกาที่ไม่ใช่ลิมิเต็ดเอดิชั่น แต่จะผลิตในจำนวนไม่มากนักเพราะว่าเป็นผลิตภัณฑ์ที่มีความซับซ้อนเป็นอย่างยิ่ง

The Neo Constant Escapement is built upon the foundation laid in 2013 by the Constant Escapement L.M. watch.

Girard-Perregaux created a sensation 10 years ago with their introduction of the Constant Escapement L.M. watch, which proceeded to win the Aiguille d’Or prize from GPHG in the same year. Its main feature was the ability to deliver rate stability regardless of remaining energy with the use of an innovative silicium blade that keeps the balance amplitude uniformed. This year, the company has unveiled a new product, called the Neo Constant Escapement, that is an evolution over the original design.
Most apparently, all three hands that tell the time are now at the centre of the dial, whereas the hour and the minute hands were sectored away in an off-centred subdial at the top of the Constant Escapement L.M. watch. The resultant change is more legible, and more imposing. In terms of size, the case is reduced from 48 mm to a more wearable 45 mm, and crafted from lightweight grade 5 titanium. Meanwhile, the power reserve has increased from an already ample six days to an even more comfortable seven days.
Despite this being a non-classical timepiece with a focus on traditional finishing, the Neo Constant Escapement exemplifies a great exercise in architectural consideration. The lateral symmetry of the movement is flawless when looking from either the front or the back. Even the linear power reserve at nine o’clock is balanced out nicely with the “Constant Escapement Chronometer” text on the opposite side at three o’clock. And there is no mistaking whose brand this watch belongs to even if the branding is absent. The DNA is all there.
The Girard-Perregaux Neo Constant Escapement on a black rubber strap with the fabric effect is scheduled to be on sale in January 2024. It is not a limited edition watch but will be made available in limited quantities, given the complexity involved in its production.
