Czapek & Cie เป็นชื่อแบรนด์นาฬิกาเก่าแก่ที่กลับมาโลดแล่นในวงการอีกครั้งเมื่อไม่นานมานี้ เดิมทีนั้นฟรานซีสเชค ชาเปคชาวโปแลนด์เชื้อสายเชคได้อพยพมาตั้งรกรากอยู่ที่สวิตเซอร์แลนด์เมื่อปี ค.ศ. 1832 และได้รู้จักกับอองตวน นอร์เบิร์ต เดอ ปาเตกในปี ค.ศ. 1836 แล้วจึงก่อตั้งธุรกิจนาฬิการ่วมกันในชื่อ Patek, Czapek & Cie ในปี ค.ศ. 1839 แต่ทั้งสองก็ทำธุรกิจร่วมกันได้เพียง 6 ปีก่อนที่จะแยกไปตามทางของตนในปี ค.ศ. 1845 ทางด้านปาเตกก็ไปจับมือกับหุ้นส่วนใหม่จนกลายเป็นแบรนด์ดังค้างฟ้าในวงการทุกวันนี้ ส่วนชาเปคนั้นก็มีหุ้นส่วนรายใหม่เช่นกันและประกอบธุรกิจในชื่อบริษัท Czapek & Cie แต่ตัวบริษัทนั้นก็ไม่มีการดำเนินกิจการต่อหลังจากที่เขาเสียชีวิตไป
ชื่อ Czapek & Cie ถูกรื้อฟื้นขึ้นมาอีกครั้งในปี ค.ศ. 2012 ภายใต้การริเริ่มของชาย 3 คนที่มีประสบการณ์จากคนละสายงานแต่อยู่ในอุตสาหกรรมนาฬิกาด้วยกันทั้งหมด พวกเขาใช้กระบวนการระดุมทุนแบบคราวด์ฟันดิ้งจนสามารถผลิตนาฬิกา Czapek & Cie สมัยใหม่รุ่นแรกได้ในปี ค.ศ. 2015 โดยนาฬิกาข้อมือรุ่น Quai des Bergues 33bis นั้นมีหน้าตาถอดแบบมาจากนาฬิกาพก Czapek เรือนหนึ่งจากยุคทศวรรษที่ 1850 แล้วเมื่อนาฬิการุ่นดังกล่าวได้รับรางวัล Public Prize จากรายการ GPHG ก็ยิ่งทำให้ชื่อเสียงของบริษัท Czapek & Cie ใหม่นี้น่าเชื่อถือมากยิ่งขึ้นไปอีก ก่อนที่นาฬิกาคอลเลคชั่น Antarctique จะทำให้หลายต่อหลายคนต้องหันมาในใจ Czapek & Cie อย่างจริงจังในปี ค.ศ. 2020 ด้วยการเป็นนาฬิกาสไตล์สปอร์ตที่มีสายแบบอินทีเกรทลวดลายเป็นเอกลักษณ์ไม่เหมือนใคร
Antarctique Mount Erebus รุ่นที่ออกเมื่อต้นปีนี้ก็เป็นสมาชิกน้องใหม่ของคอลเลคชั่นดังกล่าวเช่นกัน และเป็นรุ่นแรกที่ผลิตด้วยทอง ชื่อรุ่นตั้งตามภูเขาไฟลูกหนึ่งในทวีปแอนตาร์คติกซึ่งพ่นทองปริมาณ 80 กรัมออกมากับก๊าซต่างๆ ในแต่ละวัน Czapek & Cie ผลิตนาฬิกา Antarctique Mount Erebus เป็นสองเวอร์ชั่นด้วยกัน ได้แก่ เวอร์ชั่นปกติแบบไม่จำกัดจำนวนเป็นเยลโลว์โกลด์ และเวอร์ชั่นแบบลิมิเต็ดเอดิชั่นจำนวน 100 เรือนเป็นโรสโกลด์ ทั้งสองเวอร์ชั่นมีหน้าปัดสีน้ำเงินเข้มที่มีลายเส้นบางๆ อันเกิดจากเทคนิคลาเมที่ใช้แปรงพิเศษชนิดหนึ่งถูไปบนพื้นผิว
และถ้าคุณชอบหน้าปัดนาฬิกาที่ดูมีเท็กซ์เจอร์ คุณก็จะต้องชอบผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่อีกรุ่นหนึ่งที่เปิดตัวในงาน Watches and Wonders Geneva นั่นก็คือ Antarctique Green Meteor ที่มีตัวเรือนขนาด 40.5 มม. เหมือนกับรุ่นแรกแต่ว่าผลิตด้วยสเตนเลสสตีล และทำงานด้วยเครื่องนาฬิการุ่นคาลิเบอร์ SXH5.01 ที่มีไมโครโรเตอร์ผลิตจากแพลทตินัมเพื่อการขึ้นลานอัตโนมัติจนได้กำลังลานสำรองเต็ม 60 ชั่วโมงเหมือนกัน จุดขายของนาฬิการุ่นนี้อยู่ตรงที่หน้าปัดซึ่งผลิตจากอุกกาบาตที่ตกลงสู่พื้นโลกในประเทศนามิเบียเมื่อประมาณ 600 ล้านปีก่อน แผ่นอุกกาบาตแต่ละแผ่นที่ถูกตัดมาทำเป็นหน้าปัดจะต้องผ่านกระบวนการล้างและขัดเพื่อให้ลวดลายปรากฏชัดเจนก่อนที่จะลงแลคเกอร์สีเขียวซ้ำกันหลายชั้นจนดูราวกับมีมนต์เสน่ห์ดึงดูดสายตา แต่ถ้าใครชอบรุ่นนี้ก็จะต้องใจเย็นรอเพราะว่าของจะพร้อมส่งมอบจริงในช่วงไตรมาสที่ 2 ของปีหน้า
อีกหนึ่งข่าวสำคัญของ Czapek & Cie ในปีนี้คือการเปิดตัวคอลเลคชั่นนาฬิกาใหม่เป็นคอลเลคชั่นที่ 5 ที่แตกต่างจากทุกคอลเลคชั่นก่อนหน้าด้วยการเป็นนาฬิกาที่ดูเรียบๆ ใส่ง่าย แต่ก็ไม่ทิ้งความสง่างามอย่างร่วมสมัย นาฬิกาคอลเลคชั่นนี้มีชื่อว่า Promenade และรุ่นแรกที่ออกมาจำนวน 2 รุ่นก็มีตัวเรือนสเตนเลสสตีลขนาดเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลาง 38 มม. ที่บางเพียง 10 มม. ทั้งคู่ ความแตกต่างของนาฬิกา 2 รุ่นนี้อยู่ที่หน้าปัด โดยรุ่นแรกมีชื่อว่า Promenade Guilloché Soleil ซึ่งนำเสนอความคมคายของการใช้เครื่องกิโยเช่มือหมุนในการแกะลวดลายซันเรย์ที่แผ่กระจายออกจากตำแหน่งของเข็มวินาทีขนาดเล็ก สำหรับรุ่นนี้มีหน้าปัดให้เลือก 2 สีด้วยกัน ได้แก่ Ivoire และ Bleu Nuit
นาฬิกา Promenade อีกรุ่นเป็นลิมิเต็ดเอดิชั่นจำนวน 100 เรือนในชื่อ Promenade Goutte d’Eau และเป็นดาวเด่นที่เป็นหน้าเป็นตาให้กับทางแบรนด์ในงาน Watches and Wonders Geneva ครั้งที่ผ่านมา ชื่อรุ่นที่เป็นภาษาฝรั่งเศสนี้มีความหมายว่า “หยดน้ำ” ซึ่งก็ตรงกับภาพริ้วกระเพื่อมสีน้ำเงินบนฉากหลังสีดำเหมือนกับว่ามีหยดน้ำตกลงกระทบพื้นผิวหน้าปัดบริเวณตำแหน่งเข็มวินาทีเล็ก หน้าปัดที่มีลวดลายไม่เหมือนใครนี้เป็นฝีมือการผลิตด้วยเทคนิคกร็องเฟอเอนาเมลโดยบริษัทที่เป็นพาร์ทเนอร์กับ Czapek เราได้เห็นเรือนจริงแล้วรู้สึกถึงความดึงดูดราวกับถูกสะกดจิต แต่ถ้าถามว่าเวลากี่โมงก็ยังดูเข็มและอ่านค่าได้ชัดเจนอยู่ และเมื่อพลิกไปทางด้านหลังของตัวเรือนก็จะเห็นกับสถาปัตยกรรมอันแข็งแกร่งของเครื่องนาฬิกาที่ใช้บริดจ์แบบสเกเลตั้นจำนวนทั้งหมด 7 บริดจ์ยึดชิ้นส่วนต่างๆ ของเกียร์เทรนเอาไว้

We picked four novelties to highlight the breadth of offering this year.

Czapek & Cie is a story of spirited rebirth. Franciszek Czapek was a Polish of Czech origin who emigrated to Switzerland in 1832. He met with fellow compatriot Antoine Norbert de Patek in 1836 and founded with him Patek, Czapek & Cie in 1839 to produce pocket watches. The partnership was dissolved in 1845 after six years. Patek would go on to partner with another watchmaker and become the brand that it is today. Meanwhile, Czapek continued to produce timepieces under the name Czapek & Cie with a different partner. The company was a success throughout the lifetime of Czapek but it seemed to have ceased to exist under that name after his passing.
Fast forward to 2012, three business partners with different but relevant background in watch industry came together in 2012 to revive the Czapek & Cie name. Using the crowdfunding process, they were able to realized and presented the first modern Czapek & Cie watch in 2015. The Quai des Bergues 33bis wristwatch took after the design of a particular Czapek pocket watch from the 1850s and quickly won the Public Prize from the GPHG, enhancing greatly the credibility of the company. Their rise to fame accelerated once more in 2020 with the introduction of the highly admired Antarctique collection to which two of the four novelties we are presenting belong.
The Antarctique Mount Erebus watch presented earlier this year is the first watch in this collection of sportive watches on an integrated bracelet to have been crafted in gold. The model is named after a particular active volcano in the Antarctica that is known to spew approximately 80 grams of gold per day with its volcanic gases. Two versions are produced with the yellow gold being a regular production model and the rose gold being a limited edition of 100 pieces. Both versions feature a deep blue dial that is made ever more characteristic with a highly textured satin finish that is achieved with the lamé technique that uses a special kind of comb.
If you appreciate texture, we believe you will find the next novelty equally interesting. Presented shortly after at Watches and Wonders Geneva, the Antarctique Green Meteor in stainless steel comes in the same dimension of 40.5 mm in diameter and uses the same SXH5.01 self-winding movement with a platinum micro rotor to build a power reserve of 60 hours. Its key selling point is the dial which comes from a meteorite that landed in Namibia about 600 million years ago. Each slice is washed and polished to reveal its unique pattern before several layers of green lacquer are applied to give extra allure. A little patience will be needed though as delivery for this model will start only in the second quarter of next year.
Having offered mechanical complication or other form of aesthetic ramification with the first four watch families, Czapek & Cie has decided to make a difference with their fifth product line. With the Promenade, the company wishes to propose modern, elegant yet relaxed timepieces that are easy to wear. Measuring a moderate 38 mm in diameter and only 10 mm in thickness, the stainless steel case of the first two Promenade models houses two very different dial executions. The Promenade Guilloché Soleil is the sharper one with a hand guilloche sunray pattern radiating from behind the small second hand, and there are two color choices of Ivoire and Bleu Nuit.
But if you are in the mood for something more unusual, the Promenade Goutte d’Eau is a limited edition of 100 pieces you should consider, very quickly. The French name translates to “drops of water”. Using the grand feu enamel technique, Czapek’s dial partner is able to create a black and blue ripple effect like an imaginary raindrop has fallen on top of the small second hand. The resulting dial is completely hypnotic but at the same time the hands remain quite legible when you actually need to read the time. This organic calm on the front is such a drastic contrast against the sharp angles of the seven skeletonized bridges holding the gear train in place on the back side of the movement.
