Tank Asymétrique คือนาฬิกายุคประวัติศาสตร์รุ่นล่าสุดที่ถูกนำมาตีความใหม่ตามสไตล์ Privé ของ Cartier

หลังจากที่คอลเลคชั่น Privé หายไปช่วงหนึ่ง เราก็กลับมาตั้งหน้าตั้งตารอให้ Cartier ออกนาฬิการุ่นพิเศษในกลุ่มนี้ทุกปีได้อีกครั้ง หัวใจของคอลเลคชั่นนี้คือการนำเอารูปทรงที่โด่งดังในอดีตกลับมาผลิตอีกครั้งหนึ่ง บ้างก็มีการตีความใหม่ด้วย เริ่มตั้งแต่ปี 2015 ที่เราได้เห็นนาฬิกา Crash, Tonneau และ Tank Cintrée ในรูปโฉม Privé แล้วในปีนี้จึงเป็นคราวของนาฬิการูปทรงมีเสน่ห์แต่ถ้าใครไม่รักก็ไม่เอาเลยอย่าง Tank Asymétrique
Privé Tank Asymétrique ของปีนี้ออกแบบมาได้อย่างลงตัวที่สุด บนพื้นฐานของรุ่นดั้งเดิมจากปี 1936 ซึ่งในขณะนั้นมีชื่อเรียกว่า Parallélogramme หรือ Losange ตามรูปทรงอันมีเอกลักษณ์ของตัวเรือน กล่าวคือ เป็นสี่เหลี่ยมผืนผ้าที่มีความเยื้องจนดูราวกับเป็นทรงเพชรที่ถูกดึงยาวลงมา ขนาดตัวเรือนรุ่นใหม่อยู่ที่ 47.15 x 26.2 มม.

Privé Tank Asymétrique ผลิตตัวเรือนด้วยโลหะมีค่าสามชนิดเฉกเช่นเดียวกันกับคอลเลคชั่น Privé รุ่นก่อนหน้า ได้แก่ แพลทตินัม เยลโลว์โกลด์และพิงค์โกลด์ แต่ละวัสดุจำกัดจำนวน 100 เรือน และใช้เครื่องไขลานรุ่นคาลิเบอร์ 1917 MC ทุกรุ่นมีหน้าปัดสีเรียบๆ เพื่อตอกย้ำความสง่างามในภาพรวม แล้ว Cartier Privé Tank Asymétrique ยังมีแบบสเกเลตั้นด้วยอีกสามรุ่น ได้แก่ รุ่นพิงค์โกลด์ รุ่นแพลทตินัมและรุ่นแพลทตินัมประดับเพชร จำกัดจำนวนรุ่นละ 100 เรือนและทำงานด้วยเครื่องไขลานรุ่น 9623 MC

The Tank Asymétrique is the latest archival piece that receives Cartier’s Privé interpretation.

After a break when Collection Privé was entirely absent, we have now come to once again expect this signature from Cartier every year. The collection revisits famous silhouettes, and in certain cases reinterprets them. Since 2015, the Crash, Tonneau and Tank Cintrée received the Privé treatment. This year Cartier returns from its foray into its archives with a charming yet polarising design — the Tank Asymétrique.
This year’s Privé Tank Asymétrique hits all the right spots. It takes cues from a 1936 counterpart, which was introduced as the Parallélogramme or Losange named after its unique case shape. A rectangular shape is offset in opposite directions, altering it into an elongated diamond which measures 47.15 x 26.2 mm.
Its dial orientation is rotated to the right for a whimsical effect that springs from making it practically easier to read the time. To further avoid any confusion (given the dial layout), a pair of dots can be seen below the 12 and above the 6 o’clock numerals to aid orientation. The inclusion of alternating Arabic numerals and baton indices is another distinctive feature of the 1936 edition, said to improve readability.
The playful yet sophisticated and elegant execution of the Cartier Privé Tank Asymétrique certainly makes it a niche piece in today’s context. Rectangular pieces are generally overlooked in favour of round ones (a fact we have bemoaned in these pages too many times), making asymmetrical executions even harder to countenance. That said, there will be a group that will snap them up without thinking twice – and this is a limited edition too.
As with previous Privé collections, the Privé Tank Asymétrique is available in a trio of precious metals: platinum, yellow as well as pink gold, each in a limited run of 100 pieces with manual-winding Calibre 1917 MC. The elegance that Cartier chooses to express is further cemented with restrained colour dials. The Cartier Privé Tank Asymétrique is also available in three skeletonised versions in pink gold, platinum as well as gem-set platinum with, also in a limited run of 100 pieces each with manual-winding Calibre 9623 MC.
