Bulgari มีการนำเสนอผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่ในแต่ละปีในสองช่วงเวลาสำคัญด้วยกัน ได้แก่ งาน LVMH Watch Week ในเดือนมกราคมและงาน Geneva Watch Days ในเดือนสิงหาคมซึ่งเป็นจังหวะที่เหมาะสมสำหรับการนำเสนอในนิตยสารฉบับกันยายนของเราพอดี ในครั้งนี้ Bulgari มีผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่จำนวน 6 รุ่นและเราก็มีพื้นที่หน้ากระดาษอยู่ 6 หน้าพอดีเช่นกัน โดยทุกรุ่นนั้นมีความโดดเด่นทั้งในเรื่องวัสดุ สีสัน รูปทรงและสไตล์ซึ่งประกอบกันเป็นดีไซน์ที่มีบุคลิกและน่าประทับใจ
เราขอเริ่มต้นด้วยผลิตภัณฑ์ที่สื่อถึงรากฐานที่มาแห่งการเป็นแบรนด์จิวเวลรีของ Bulgari ได้เป็นอย่างดี นั่นก็คือนาฬิกา Serpenti อันเป็นไอค่อนรูปงูที่ผู้คนจดจำมาตั้งแต่ยุคทศวรรษที่ 1940 ซึ่งงูนั้นถือว่าเป็นสัตว์ที่มีเสน่ห์อย่างลึกลับ ชวนให้หลงใหล และมีความหมายแฝงในเชิงต่างๆ ในหลากหลายอารยธรรมของมนุษย์โลก
ปีนี้ Bulgari มีนาฬิกาแบบซีเครทวอทช์ระดับไฮจิวเวลรีรุ่น Serpenti Misteriosi ออกใหม่อีก 2 เวอร์ชั่น รุ่นแรกเป็นไวท์โกลด์ประดับเพชรทรงบริลเลียนท์คัทเต็มพื้นที่รวมน้ำหนัก 32.91 กะรัต ดวงตาสีเขียวเป็นเอเมอรอลด์แบบแพร์คัท หน้าปัดบอกเวลาประดับเพชรแบบพาเว่เซ็ทเต็มพื้นที่ รุ่นที่สองเป็นโรสโกลด์ที่มีการลงแลคเกอร์สีดำตามตำแหน่งเกล็ดงู ประดับเพชรทรงนาแวตคัทเป็นช่วงๆ รวมน้ำหนัก 11.9 กะรัต ส่วนดวงตาสีเขียวก็เป็นเอเมอรอลด์แบบแพร์คัท และหน้าปัดบอกเวลาประดับเพชรแบบพาเว่เซ็ทเต็มพื้นที่เหมือนรุ่นแรก
เมื่อต้องการดูเวลาก็เพียงกดที่ปลายลิ้นของงูแล้วหัวงูส่วนบนก็จะยกตัวขึ้นเพื่อให้เห็นหน้าปัดที่อยู่ข้างในปากงู หน้าปัดและเครื่องนาฬิกานั้นบรรจุอยู่ในตลับที่สามารถถอดออกมาจากปากงูได้เพื่อความสะดวกในการส่งเครื่องนาฬิกาไปทำการบำรุงรักษา และ Bulgari ก็ออกแบบมาให้เราสามารถวางตลับนี้แบบกลับด้านบนและล่างได้ เพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกกรณีที่เจ้าของนาฬิกาต้องการสวมนาฬิกาบนข้อมือซ้ายหรือขวา หรือต้องการสวมนาฬิกาแบบหันหัวงูเข้าและออกได้ตามความถนัดหรือความชอบ
นาฬิกา Serpenti Misteriosi ใหม่นี้ยังคงใช้เครื่องรุ่นคาลิเบอร์ BVL 100 เหมือนกับชุดที่ออกมาเมื่อปีที่แล้ว เครื่องนาฬิกาแบบไขลานรุ่นนี้มีชื่อเล่นว่า Piccolissimo ซึ่งเป็นคำในภาษาอิตาเลียนที่แปลว่า “เล็กมากๆ” ด้วยขนาดเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลางเพียง 12.3 มม. และความหนาเพียง 2.5 มม. เครื่องรุ่นนี้จึงเหมาะสำหรับการใช้ในนาฬิกาสไตล์จิวเวลรีขนาดเล็กหรือนาฬิกาผู้หญิงลักษณะต่างๆ และด้วยศักยภาพทางด้านวิศวกรรมจึงทำให้ Bulgari สามารถออกแบบเครื่องรุ่นนี้ให้มีกำลังลานสำรองนานถึง 30 ชั่วโมงได้แม้ว่าจะมีขนาดเล็ก ทั้งนี้ เครื่องรุ่น BVL 100 ประกอบด้วยชิ้นส่วนมากถึง 102 ชิ้นแต่กลับมีน้ำหนักเบาเพียง 1.3 กรัมเท่านั้น
ตั้งแต่ที่มีการเปิดตัว เราก็อยากเห็น Bulgari นำเครื่อง BVL 100 ไปใช้ในนาฬิการุ่นอื่นๆ บ้าง ซึ่งในปีนี้เราก็สมหวังเมื่อผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่อีก 2 ตัวที่ออกในงาน Geneva Watch Days ได้ใช้เครื่องรุ่นดังกล่าว และเป็นผลิตภัณฑ์จากคอลเลคชั่น Monete ทั้งคู่ จิวเวลรีและเรือนเวลาที่อยู่ในคอลเลคชั่น Monete นี้มีเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัวอยู่ตรงที่การประดับเหรียญโบราณอันสื่อถึงความยิ่งใหญ่แห่งจักรวรรดิโรมันในอดีต คอลเลคชั่น Monete ของ Bulgari นี้มีมาตั้งแต่ยุคทศวรรษที่ 1930 และนาฬิกา Monete เรือนแรกก็ออกตามมาในปี ค.ศ. 1966 เมื่อนิโกลา บุลการีเกิดไอเดียว่าทางแบรนด์ควรจะใช้เหรียญนี้เป็นจุดโฟกัสสำคัญบนนาฬิกาด้วยเช่นกัน

สำหรับผลิตภัณฑ์คู่สุดท้ายที่เราจะไม่พูดถึงไม่ได้นั้นมาจากคอลเลคชั่น Octo Finissimo ซึ่งเป็นที่สนใจของผู้คนอย่างยิ่งในเวลานี้ หลังจากที่ทำสถิติโลกมาแล้วถึง 8 รายการตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ. 2014 เป็นต้นมา ในครั้งนี้นาฬิกาที่เคยทำสถิติโลกจำนวน 2 รุ่นถูกนำมาตีความใหม่ด้วยการใช้วัสดุไฮเทคคาร์บอนสีแอนธราไซท์มาผลิตตัวเรือน สายนาฬิกาและหน้าปัด พร้อมแต่งแต้มด้วยรายละเอียดสีทองบนหน้าปัดอย่างน่าสนใจ
Bulgari เป็นผู้นำที่กล้าใช้วัสดุชนิดต่างๆ มาโดยตลอด ครั้งแรกที่ Bulgari ใช้คาร์บอนคู่กับทองนั้นก็คือปี ค.ศ. 1993 ในนาฬิการุ่น Bulgari Bulgari สำหรับคอลเลคชั่น Octo Finissimo นั้นเคยมีแต่คาร์บอนแบบเพียวๆ มาหลายรุ่นแล้ว แต่นี่เป็นครั้งแรกที่มีการใช้คาร์บอนคู่กับทองในคอลเลคชั่นนาฬิกาสไตล์อัลตร้าธินนี้
Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Automatic ยังคงมีขนาดเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลางตัวเรือน 40 มม. เหมือนเดิม แต่ว่ามีความหนาเพิ่มขึ้นเล็กน้อยเป็น 6.90 มม. หลักชั่วโมงและเข็มสีโรสโกลด์ตัดกับพื้นผิวแบบด้านของหน้าปัดคาร์บอนได้อย่างสวยงาม เม็ดมะยมโรสโกลด์ขัดเงาประดับเซรามิกสีดำช่วยทำให้นาฬิการุ่นนี้กันน้ำได้ลึกถึงระดับ 100 เมตร เมื่อพลิกมาทางด้านหลังของนาฬิกาจะมองเห็นเครื่องนาฬิกาแบบขึ้นลานอัตโนมัติรุ่นคาลิเบอร์ BVL 138 ซึ่งมีบริดจ์ต่างๆ ผลิตจากโรสโกลด์และมีไมโครโรเตอร์ผลิตจากแพลทตินัมแล้วเคลือบโรสโกลด์อีกชั้นหนึ่ง กำลังลานสำรองอยู่ที่ 60 ชั่วโมง

We dive into six Bulgari novelties that excel at being a timepiece and a jewellery item at the same time.

Bulgari mainly presents the year’s novelties during two important events: LVMH Watch Week in January and Geneva Watch Days in August. The latter coincides with our September quarterly print issue, so we have the pleasure of presenting each and every piece across these six pages.
Materials, colours, shapes and styles play pivotal roles in making these novelties distinguished and memorable. We begin with the product closely linked with the jewellery heritage of the Italian house, and for which the brand is known. The Serpenti watch has been a Bulgari icon since the 1940s, itself inspired by the seductiveness and mythical glamour of the snake throughout the civilisations.
This year, the Serpenti Misteriosi high jewellery secret watch is offered in two new incarnations. The first in white gold is fully set with 32.91 ct of round, brilliant-cut diamonds; two pear-shaped emeralds for the eyes; and more pavé-set diamonds on the dial. The second comes in rose gold with black lacquered scales, intermittently set with 11.9 ct of navette diamonds, as well as the same pear-shaped emerald eyes and pave-set diamond dial.
To reveal the dial, one only needs to press the tongue of the snake for the upper part of its head to rise. The dial and its movement are encased in a containment that can be easily removed for when the watch needs to be serviced. Bulgari was also careful to design the attachment so that the containment case can be mounted in two ways; the dial will be upright whether the watch is worn on the left or the right wrist and regardless of the inward or outward position of the snake.
Same as the first four high jewellery versions of the Serpenti Misteriosi watch last year, these two novelties are powered by the hand-winding Calibre BVL 100, nicknamed Piccolissimo which means “very, very small” in Italian. This feat of miniaturisation boasts a diameter of only 12.3 mm and a thickness of only 2.5 mm, which make it suitable for incorporation into petite jewellery or otherwise feminine watches. And thanks to contemporary engineering, this movement can deliver an impressive power reserve of 30 hours despite its small size. There are 102 parts in total, weighing a combined 1.3 grams.
Our wish to see this incredible movement used in other Bulgari watches came true, as it is used in two more Geneva Watch Days novelties, both from the Monete collection. Monete celebrates the house’s Roman roots. Jewellery and timepieces within this collection take their design inspiration from antique coins, which allude to the greatness of ancient Rome. Bulgari has incorporated the ancient coin design into refined objects since the 1930s. The first Monete watches followed in 1966 when Nicola Bulgari developed the idea to have a coin as a central design focus of timepieces as well.
For Geneva Watch Days 2023, Bulgari proposes two Monete secret watches: the Monete Catene and the Monete Catene Dual Time. Rare coins of the period are sourced by Bulgari to decorate these watches to ensure historical relevance. The one coin on the Monete Catene watch is a silver coin with the depiction of Emperor Caracalla who ruled from 198 to 217 AD. The two coins on the Monete Catene Dual Time watch portray the likenesses of Emperor Septimius Severus, who ruled from 193 to 211, and Empress Julia Domna.
Both diamond-set rose gold timepieces are secret watches on a chain bracelet (Catene, in Italian). Time is revealed only once the cover is lifted. At the heart of the watch lies the aforementioned Piccolissimo movement. In the case of the dual time cuff watch, there are two such movements for each of the two dials.
Lastly, we cannot conclude this cover story without showing you the Octo Finissimo novelties as the collection is all the rage these days. This collection of watches has secured eight world records since 2014, and two of those record-breaking timepieces are now reimagined with a case, bracelet and dial in high-tech anthracite carbon and accented by a touch of gold.
Bulgari has always been a daring pioneer. Their first use of carbon with gold already appeared in 1993 with the twice named Bulgari Bulgari watch. Carbon alone made its way into the Octo Finissimo collection a long time ago in various watch models, but this is the first time both materials meet in this ultra-thin line.
The Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Automatic maintains the same 40 mm diameter of the main model but comes in at a thickness of 6.90 mm. Rose gold-coloured hour markers and hands shine and contrast against the matte finish of the carbon dial. A polished rose gold crown with a black ceramic insert guarantees water resistance to the depth of 100 metres. Turning to the back of the watch, the self-winding Calibre BVL 138 is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. Its bridges are crafted out of rose gold, and the micro rotor is rose gold-plated platinum. The watch offers a power reserve of 60 hours.
The same striking aesthetics is applied to another object of rarity: the Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Perpetual Calendar, at the thickness of 7.60 mm. This is the 40 mm watch that claimed the seventh slimness record for Bulgari and won the Aiguille d’Or prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2021. Calendar information is arranged in a most symmetrical manner with a retrograde date hand at the top of the dial, a retrograde leap year hand at the bottom of the dial, plus two more hands in two counters for the day of the week and the month. All are driven by the self-winding Calibre BVL 305, which is similarly equipped with a micro rotor. Manual intervention of the calendar setting is not required until 2100.
