ต่อให้คุณผู้อ่านเกิดไม่ทันใช้ฟิล์มถ่ายรูป แต่เราก็มั่นใจว่าที่บ้านคุณหรือบ้านคุณพ่อคุณแม่จะต้องมีฟิล์มเก่าๆ ที่รอการเสื่อมสลายอย่างไม่มีวันหวนกลับเพราะความร้อนและกาลเวลาทำร้าย ถ้าคุณพอจะมีเวลาว่างช่วงปลายปีนี้ เราเอาฟิล์มเก่านั้นมาสแกนกันดีกว่าเพื่อไม่ให้ความทรงจำในอดีตต้องสูญหายไป
Kodak Slide N Scan ไม่ใช่เครื่องสแกนฟิล์มรุ่นแรกของโลก และก็ไม่ใช่เครื่องระดับท็อปแต่อย่างใด สาเหตุที่เราอยากนำเสนอก็เพราะว่า Slide N Scan ดูเป็นผลิตภัณฑ์ที่เหมาะกับการใช้งานจริงโดยผู้บริโภคทั่วไป ใครๆ ก็ใช้งานได้โดยไม่ต้องมา DIY หรือใช้โทรศัพท์มือถือช่วยถ่ายจากฟิล์มให้วุ่นวาย เพียงแค่โหลดฟิล์มเข้าไปแล้วกดปุ่มก็เป็นอันเรียบร้อย ได้ภาพเป็นไฟล์เก็บไว้ตลอดกาลแล้ว ตัวเครื่องมาพร้อมกับอแดปเตอร์ต่างๆ เพื่อใช้ในการป้อนฟิล์ม หากเป็นฟิล์มเนกาทีฟก็ป้อนและสแกนยาวทั้งแถบได้เลย หรือถ้าเป็นฟิล์มสไลด์ก็ต้องใส่และสแกนทีละชิ้น
ถ้าที่บ้านมีฟิล์มมากมายก็คงต้องใช้เวลาสแกน แต่การสแกนฟิล์มนี้ก็อาจเป็นงานอดิเรกใหม่ของผู้สูงวัยที่บ้านก็ได้ เพราะว่าใช้งานง่ายมากและแสดงผลทางหน้าจอแอลซีดีขนาด 5 นิ้วทันที จะปรับสีหรือปรับความสว่างก็ทำได้ในตัวเครื่อง จากนั้นไฟล์ภาพจะถูกเซฟไว้ในการ์ด SD หรือส่งตรงเข้าเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ผ่านทางสาย USB
เซ็นเซอร์ของเครื่องเป็นแบบ CMOS ขนาด 1/2.33 นิ้ว สามารถสแกนภาพได้ที่ความละเอียด 14 เมกาพิกเซล (4320 x 3252 พิกเซล) สำหรับใครที่ต้องการความละเอียดสูงกว่านี้ แนะนำว่าอย่าซื้อฟิล์มสแกนเนอร์ที่แพงกว่านี้ ให้เอาฟิล์มไปจ้างร้านสแกนเลยน่าจะคุ้มกว่า แต่สำหรับการใช้งานตามบ้านทั่วไป แค่ 14 เมกาพิกเซลนี้ก็คงจะพอเพียงแล้ว แถมยังไม่ต้องคิดหรือระวังด้วยว่าในฟิล์มนั้นมีรูปอะไรบ้าง
Kodak Slide N Scan ใช้พลังงานจากพอร์ท USB ของคอมพิวเตอร์คุณหรือพาวเวอร์แบงค์ก็ได้ แต่ถ้าจะเสียบไฟบ้านต้องซื้ออแดปเตอร์ 5V/1A มาใส่เองเพราะไม่มีมาให้ในชุด ตัวเครื่องมีขนาด 95 x 136 x 134 มม. และหนัก 380 กรัม เวลาไม่ใช้สแกนก็สามารถใช้เป็นกรอบรูปแบบดิจิตอลเพื่อเปิดรูปโชว์ได้แต่ก็ดูเทอะทะไปเสียหน่อยหากจะใช้เพื่อการนั้นจริงๆ ไปซื้อกรอบรูปดิจิตอลจริงๆ เลยน่าจะเหมาะกว่า อีกหนึ่งฟีเจอร์ของเครื่องสแกนนี้ก็คือคุณสามารถเสียบสาย HDMI เพื่อเอาภาพขึ้นโทรทัศน์ได้ด้วยถ้าต้องการ ราคาค่าตัวบนเว็บขอ Kodak เองระบุไว้ที่ 224.99 ดอลลาร์สหรัฐและกำลังเซลเหลือ 159.99 ดอลลาร์สหรัฐ ถือเป็นจำนวนเงินอันน้อยนิดจริงๆ เมื่อคิดว่าคุณจะได้ภาพแห่งความทรงจำมาเก็บรักษาไว้ในรูปแบบไฟล์ได้ชั่วกาลนาน

For the purpose of this article, we are going to make a couple of assumptions, that you are of a certain age so you have direct experience with film photography, or that you are younger but still there are old negatives and slides lying around in your family house, waiting for decay from heat and time. The slower period around the end of the year is a good time to think about how you can digitise those (almost) lost memories.
Kodak Slide N Scan is not the first film scanner in the world nor is it the most professional. But it is practical and user-friendly enough for home use and does not require any level of DIY or mobile phone trickery. With a push of a button, your memory on film will be forever preserved. Dedicated film adapters are included in the package so you can use the continuous feed option for negatives. Slides need to be scanned one by one using the provided slide holder.
This may sound like a tedious task but it may well be the next favourite hobby of your retired parents, for example. Scanned images are instantly previewed on the built-in, 5-inch LCD screen; and the integrated image editing feature will allow for simple adjustments like those for colours and brightness. Images stored on the SD card or transferred directly to your PC or Mac via a USB cable.
The device’s 1/2.33′′ CMOS sensor gives an output resolution of 14 megapixels (4320 x 3252 pixels). For higher quality, you may not need a more expensive film scanner but a professional film scanning service. But 14 megapixels should do the job for home use, plus you do not have to even think about privacy.
Kodak Slide N Scan takes power from your computer’s USB port or a power bank. It can also work on a 5V/1A power adapter which is not included in the package. The product measures 95 x 136 x 134 mm and weighs 380 grams. When not scanning, it can serve as a digital photo frame as well but there are less bulky options for that, or you can connect the device to your television with the provided HDMI cable. This product is listed on Kodak’s official web site for USD 224.99 and on sale for USD 159.99 now – a very small price compared to the invaluable memory you get to save and treasure indefinitely.
