ภาพจำของเราเมื่อกล่าวถึงแบรนด์ Freitag แบรนด์สัญชาติสวิสก็คือผลิตภัณฑ์กระเป๋าและแอสเซสเซอรี่ที่ผลิตจากวัสดุรีไซเคิลหรือผ้าใบจากรถบรรทุกที่มีสีสันและลวดลายที่แรนดอมไม่ซ้ำใคร แบรนด์ Freitag นั้นถือกำเนิดขึ้นในอพาร์ทเม้นท์เล็กๆ ในเมืองซูริคเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 1993 โดยสองพี่น้องแดเนียลและมาร์คัส ฟรายถาก ริเริ่มนำเอาผ้าใบจากรถบรรทุกมาผลิตเป็นกระเป๋า ซึ่งแรกเริ่มคือกระเป๋าแมสเซนเจอร์สุดเก๋ที่ตอบโจทย์การใช้งาน ทนทาน เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อมและมีเอกลักษณ์ที่แตกต่างจากผลิตภัณฑ์อื่นๆ จนเป็นที่รู้จักอย่างแพร่หลายในปัจจุบัน

When talking about the Swiss brand Freitag, the images of bags and accessories made from recycled materials or truck cover canvas in random colors and unique patterns would probably come to your mind. The birth of the Freitag brand was in a small apartment in Zurich in 1993. Two brothers, Daniel and Markus Freitag, started making bags by using canvas from truck covers. The first product was a chic messenger bag that was functional, durable, environmentally friendly and had a uniqueness that made it stand out from other brands.
Recently, Freitag pushes its limits by making bags from recycled materials with the launch of the Mono[PA6] backpack, an all-black backpack made from polyamide 6 or PA6 or Nylon. Polyamide 6 is a very strong, durable, waterproof, and easy to modify material. This whole backpack can be reused or recycled, from the fabric, zipper, to the buckle. It is also different from the signature style of having many random truck cover canvas colors made into one bag while this backpack is in a minimalist style of pure black. The launch of the Mono[PA6] bag is a milestone in the brand’s move towards a circular economy, or an economy that uses resources in the most cost-effective manner in every step of the process.
The Mono[PA6] backpack possesses 17 meticulously designed components with the durability materials, including the waterproof fabric. Freitag has collaborated with a Taiwanese textile company to develop an innovative waterproof fabric without relying on any coatings. Not only being attentive to the strength of zippers, shoulder straps and neat sewing, but the brand also designs this backpack with a British designer, Geoffrey Siu, reinterpreting bags related to cycling culture. As a result, the Mono[PA6] backpack is light weighted, versatile, and can be used in many ways. There is also a small separate bag which is known among cyclists as a musette bag that can be used as a crossbody bag suitable for all daily activities.
