มนต์เสน่ห์ ความเร้นลับ ความเป็นอมตะและพลังอำนาจคือความหมายของงูในหลากหลายวัฒนธรรมบนโลกนี้ Bulgari เองก็เป็นแบรนด์หนึ่งที่นำเอาสัตว์ชนิดนี้มาเป็นแรงบันดาลใจและสัญลักษณ์สำคัญของดีไซน์ที่มีชื่อเรียกว่า Serpenti ซึ่งปัจจุบันถูกนำไปตีความเป็นผลิตภัณฑ์หลากหลายชนิดที่มีเอกลักษณ์โดดเด่นและสง่างาม โดยอาศัยความเชี่ยวชาญในด้านงานฝีมือของช่างแต่ละแขนง
เนื่องในโอกาสฉลองครบรอบ 75 ปีของ Serpenti ในปีนี้ Bulgari จึงมีแนวคิด Serpenti in Art ที่ต้องการนำเอาโลกแห่งจินตนาการของ Bulgari และโลกแห่งศิลปะมาบรรจบกันเพื่อสื่อถึงความคิดสร้างสรรค์ที่ไร้ขีดจำกัดและไร้ขอบเขต จนเกิดเป็นแคปซูลคอลเลคชั่นพิเศษที่เชื้อเชิญให้ศิลปินร่วมสมัย ซอนอู คิม, โจว ลี่ และโซฟี คิชชิ่ง มาถ่ายทอดวิสัยทัศน์ของตนบนกระเป๋าถือ Serpenti Forever Top Handle คนละ 2 รุ่น รวมทั้งหมด 6 รุ่น และผลิตเป็นจำนวนจำกัดเพียงรุ่นละ 75 ใบเท่านั้น
ซอนอู คิม จิตรกรชาวเกาหลีนำนกโดโด ตัวแทนของการแสวงหาความเป็นอิสระและความสุข ที่เป็นเสมือนซิกเนเจอร์ของเขามาเติมความสนุกสนานและมีชีวิตชีวาให้กับกระเป๋าถือ Serpenti Forever Top Handle รุ่นพิเศษในโปรเจคนี้ รุ่นแรกที่มีชื่อว่า Day เป็นการถ่ายทอดภาพของผืนป่าแห่งจินตนาการที่เขียวชอุ่มด้วยลวดลายใบไม้พิมพ์นูนแบบสามมิติบนหนังลูกวัวที่ใช้ผลิตกระเป๋า ตัวล็อคฝากระเป๋ารูปหัวงูตกแต่งด้วยเอนาเมลเฉดสีเขียวสดและมีดวงตาเป็นโอนิกซ์สีดำขลับ แล้วยังแฝงลูกเล่นที่ดูน่าสนุกไว้ที่ใต้ฝากระเป๋าในรูปของนกโดโดขี้เล่นที่โผล่ออกจากพุ่มไม้สุดแฟนซี
ในขณะที่รุ่นที่สองซึ่งมีชื่อว่า Night นั้นเป็นบรรยากาศแห่งทิวทัศน์ยามค่ำคืน ตกแต่งด้วยรูปดวงดาวแปดแฉกซึ่งเป็นอีกหนึ่งสัญลักษณ์สำคัญของ Bulgari และมีนกโดโดโบยบินอยู่ท่ามกลางท้องฟ้าสีน้ำเงินที่ส่องสว่างด้วยรายละเอียดจากงานปักถักลายประกายแสงสีทองที่มาเติมความสว่างไสวให้กับกระเป๋าได้เป็นอย่างดี โดยไม่ลืมที่จะเพิ่มความเลอค่าด้วยตัวล็อคฝากระเป๋ารูปทรงหัวงูที่ตกแต่งอย่างวิจิตรและมีมิติด้วยเทคนิคที่เรียกกันว่าไดมอนด์คัทซึ่งเป็นลวดลายแบบเมทัลลิกเกรนที่ดูแวววาวระยิบระยับเสมือนดั่งการประดับอัญมณีแบบสโนว์เซ็ตพาเว่ และมีการใช้ลาพิสลาซูลีไปประดับเป็นดวงตาราวกับกำลังร่ายมนตร์สะกดอยู่
ศิลปินคนต่อไปคือ โจว ลี่ ชาวจีนผู้มากความสามารถซึ่งนำนามธรรมแห่งบทกวีมาถ่ายทอดลงบนกระเป๋า Serpenti Forever Top Handle รุ่นพิเศษที่มีชื่อว่า Ocean และ Forest โดยกระเป๋าถือรุ่น Ocean นั้นโจว ลี่ใช้โทนสีฟ้าและสีชมพูอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์มามอบชีวิตชีวาใหม่ให้กับกระเป๋า เพื่อสะท้อนแนวคิดของความเป็นอิสระและความหวังของมนุษยชาติ ในขณะที่รุ่น Forest ใช้โทนสีฟ้าและสีเขียวที่สะท้อนถึงภาพวาดทิวทัศน์ของจีนกับบรรยากาศอันแสนโรแมนติกของผืนป่า เพื่อเฉลิมฉลองพลังแห่งธรรมชาติและวงจรชีวิตอันไม่มีสิ้นสุด โดยทั้งสองรุ่นมีการเพิ่มลวดลายด้วยงานปักถักลายสีทองดูล้ำค่าเพื่อสร้างมิติดุจสายลมอันพลิ้วไหวบนผืนหนังลูกวัวของกระเป๋าด้วย

Three artists were enlisted to share their vision and style on Serpenti Forever bags.

Snakes carry with them various implications across cultures of the world. They can refer to enchantment, mystique, immortality and power. Bulgari is one of the brands adopting this unique animal in their work. The Bulgari Serpenti design has since been interpreted into various products of great distinguishment and elegance, thanks to the prolificacy of the company’s skillful artisans.
For the 75th anniversary of the Serpenti, Bulgari has developed the Serpenti in Art concept where the brand’s imaginative world is united with art in order to unleash potentially limitless creativity, resulting in a capsule collection of six Serpenti Forever Top Handle bags that will be produced in a limited run of 75 units each. They serve as the canvas for the vision of three contemporary artists who were invited to collaborate on the project.
South Korean artist Sunwoo Kim is known for his signature use of the dodo bird as the symbol for the pursuit of freedom and happiness. The first of his Serpenti Forever Top Handle bag design is called Day. It depicts a lush green imaginary forest with embossed leave prints on the calfskin. The snakehead closure is decorated with fresh green enamel elements, and glistening black onyx is used for the eyes. A playful touch is hidden underneath the flap cover where a playful dodo emerges from a fanciful foliage.
Meanwhile, the second design called Night depicts a nighttime view with dodo birds soaring into the deep blue sky. Bulgari’s iconic eight-pointed stars provide the needed glitter, together with other embroidered elements in gold color. Similar to the first model, the snakehead closure on this one is immaculately finished. Its diamond-cut effect features a grainy metallic texture shimmering like a snow-set pavé. Lapis lazuli eyes serve to hypnotize any who lock their eyes with the snake.
Meanwhile, talented Chinese artist Zhou Li has graced the Serpenti Forever Top Handle bags with her poetic, abstract style of painting. For the Ocean bag, Zhou uses her characteristic blue and pink tones to enliven it with the idea of freedom and hope of humanity. For the Forest bag, she turns to the combination of blue and green to reference Chinese landscape paintings where the romanticism of the woods and the endless circle of life are celebrated. Golden embroidery work adds to the dimensionality on the calfskin texture of the bags. And, in addition to the snakehead closures whose enamel scales are in the color matching the bags, Zhou Li has especially designed the handle in a geometric form. Its shiny brass material is decorated with pink quartz for the Ocean model and malachite for the Forest model.
Lastly, Sophie Kitching from the United States of America chooses to capitalize on the symbiosis between snakes and the endless power of transformation, as well as the opposing forces such as day and night or the inside and the outside. Her Invisible Green version of the Serpenti Forever Top Handle bag is inspired by her eponymous series of paintings which comprise natural elements like petals and leaves on a white calf background. For her other bag, the Nocturne, black calf leather is used to show the night scene with its sharply contrasting motifs that allude to the mythical transformation of the snakes.
