Thanks to the tip of our colleagues at Luxuo Singapore, we have become aware of a 5-year old, Vancouver-based company that was born from a true appreciation of the outdoor. The Backcountry Hut Company manufactures prefabricated, scalable cabins for your local contractor to assembly on your own piece of land.
System 01 is the one you saw at the top. It celebrates rustic wilderness living in the woods or by the lake with configurable space that facilitates both indoor living and outdoor recreation. A small loft is provided and you can either use it as sleeping space or for storage. Of course, the system comes with the possibility of adding modules as needed.
The standard size of System 01 is 18.5 x 10 feet (185 square feet). Pricing is from CAD 200 per square foot. With the help of a competent contractor, one should be able to have the System 01 assembled in one week.
Customers needing a two-storey cabin need to look at System 02 – the original concept product of BCH. This is the more adaptable system of the two, as well as the more durable one where withstanding time and elements is concerned. Its flexible floor plan can be altered to accommodate a larger family, and you can even have ensuite bathrooms in the master bedrooms here.
Pricing for System 02, which takes two weeks to assemble, is from CAD 150 per square foot. Do note though that The Backcountry Hut Company does not ship to countries outside of North America at the moment. However, given the innocent nature of the products, it should be possible to make some kind of arrangements if one is willing to pay for the bills.
