ชื่นชมผลงานการออกแบบอพาร์ทเมนท์ที่โอ่โถงแต่เรียบง่ายโดยบริษัท Aurora Arquitectos

อาคารทางตอนใต้ของเขตลาร์โกโดคาร์โมของกรุงลิสบอน ประเทศโปรตุเกสแห่งนี้มีอายุกว่า 200 ปีแล้ว และเคยผ่านการใช้งานโดยเจ้าของต่างรายในช่วงเวลาดังกล่าว ล่าสุดจึงได้รับการปรับโฉมครั้งใหญ่ในปี ค.ศ. 2019 โดยฝีมือของบริษัทชื่อ Aurora Arquitectos
โจทย์ของโปรเจคนี้คือการดัดแปลงพื้นที่ขนาด 3,229 ตารางฟุตสำหรับการใช้งานโดยผู้อยู่อาศัยเพียงครอบครัวเดียว แต่ในขณะเดียวกันก็ต้องอนุรักษ์ไว้ซึ่งโครงสร้างที่มีมาแต่เดิมด้วย สถาปัตยกรรมของอาคารแห่งนี้เป็นแบบปอมบาลีน ที่มีพื้นที่ต่อเนื่องขนาดใหญ่ชั้นล่าง และมีอพาร์มเมนท์ที่พักอาศัยแบบหรูอยู่ชั้นบน
หลักการจัดทางเดินยังคงเป็นแบบเดิมโดยมีแนวแกนหลักสองแนวที่เกิดจากโถงทางเดินและการเชื่อมต่อโดยตรงระหว่างห้องสู่ห้อง งานบูรณะครั้งนี้มีการทลายกำแพงน้อยมาก ประตูบานใดที่ปิดตายไปก็มีการใช้ปูนและสีทาทับเพื่อเก็บไว้ให้เป็นฟอสซิล วิธีการเช่นนี้เป็นเหมือนกระบวนการบันทึกไปในตัวด้วย เผื่อว่าวันหนึ่งต้องการจะทำให้ทุกอย่างคืนสภาพสู่แบบดั้งเดิมก็จะสามารถทำได้
องค์ประกอบที่เป็นของใหม่นั้นมีดีไซน์แบบร่วมสมัยอย่างชัดเจนเพื่อให้ดูแตกต่างและไม่แข่งกับองค์ประกอบที่มีมาแต่เดิม ทั้งนี้ก็เพื่อเป็นการแสดงความเคารพต่อวันวานด้วย ส่วนงานที่ยากลำบากแต่เกือบจะมองไม่เห็นนั้นก็คือการงานของระบบปรับอากาศ ระบบท่อน้ำ ฯลฯ ซึ่งซ่อนอยู่ในเส้นทางที่ซับซ้อน

This apartment building in southern Largo do Carmo, Lisbon, Portugal, accommodated different occupations in the last two centuries. It was most recently worked on in 2019 by design firm Aurora Arquitectos.
The project was intended to adapt the 3,229 square feet space for use by a single family while respecting its past. Following the principles of Pombaline architecture, it has the particularity to incorporate a small palace on the lower floors and luxury apartments on the upper floors.
The logic of circulation is maintained, with two main axes formed by the corridors and direct connections between compartments. The demolitions are minimal. Close doors are filled with plaster and painted with wall paint, as fossils. These are all strategies that intend to work as a documentation process, that one day will allow everything to come back to its original state.
The new elements are designed in a way not to compete with the older ones. Their language is contemporary and intentionally distant. This detachment is also a way to respect the past. There is also an almost invisible but demanding work of rehabilitation, using complex secret paths for climatization, sewage and ventilation.
