Mercedes-AMG Project ONE เปิดตัวเป็นครั้งแรกเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 2017 และในเดือนนี้ยนตรกรรมแห่งอนาคตรุ่นดังกล่าวก็เข้าสู่ขั้นต่อไปของการทดสอบแล้วด้วยการใช้เครื่องยนต์รุ่นที่จะใช้จริงในรถต้นแบบจำนวนหลายคัน สถานที่ทดสอบก็คือสนามทดลองรถและเทคโนโลยีของทางบริษัทเองที่เมืองอิมเมนดิงเงน ประเทศเยอรมนี ในช่วงนี้เอง Mercedes-AMG จะได้ตรวจสอบเรื่องอากาศพลศาสตร์ของรถขณะวิ่งจริงนอกอุโมงค์ลมด้วย ให้ได้เห็นการทำงานร่วมกันขององค์ประกอบต่างๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นช่องลมออกของกันชนหน้า บานเกล็ด และแอโรฟอยล์ขนาดใหญ่ด้านหลัง เชื่อว่าเราคงจะได้เห็นรถไฮเปอร์คาร์คันนี้ได้โลดแล่นบนถนนจริงในเร็ววัน

Mercedes-AMG Project ONE is a product of dreams that is soon becoming a reality. Its key idea is to transfer technology developed for the Formula 1 world from the track to the street for the first time. The 2-seater is intended to deliver over 1,000 horsepower at a maximum speed of over 350 kilometres per hour. Acceleration from 0 to 200 kilometres per hour will take less than six seconds.
Additionally, the Project ONE promises superior fuel efficiency from the use of hybrid technology. Its 1.6-litre V6 hybrid petrol engine works with a total of four electric motors: one integrated into the turbocharger, one installed directly on the combustion engine with a link to the crankcase, and, two more to drive the front wheels. The project is less a tribute to the firm’s success in motorsports and more a statement on their way to “The Future of Driving Performance”.
Striking from all angles, the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE is distinguishable from a distance by the air inlet on the roofline which fuses seamlessly into the vertical shark fin. Also, check out the Formula 1 exhaust design with a large round outlet up top and two small openings directly below. This mid-engine vehicle of the future also features a Formula 1-style steering wheel.
This vehicle of the future was first announced in 2017. This month, it enters a new and exciting phase where the final power unit undergo dynamic test in several prototypes. The location used is the company’s own proving ground and technology centre in Immendingen, Germany. At this same time, aerodynamics is also scrutinised outside the wind tunnel to refine the interplay between the active components such as the louvres, the air outlets in the front fenders and the large rear aerofoil. As such, we are one step closer to seeing the completion of this road-going, Formula 1-inspired hypercar.
