สานต่อความสำเร็จกับปีที่ 2 ของรายการแข่งรถเสมือนจริง BMW SIM Cups 2021

นอกจากการพัฒนารถยนต์และรถแข่งในโลกแห่งความเป็นจริงแล้ว BMW ยังให้ความสำคัญแก่โลกแห่งการประลองความเร็วแบบเสมือนจริงด้วย เพราะเกมนั้นไม่ได้ถูกสร้างขึ้นสำหรับเกมเมอร์หรือคอรถตัวยงเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นเครื่องมือให้นักแข่งรถระดับอาชีพใช้พัฒนาฝีมือของตนเองได้ตลอดเวลาอีกด้วย ในปี ค.ศ. 2019 BMW จึงได้เปิดตัวแผนกใหม่ BMW Motorsport SIM Racing พร้อมกับจัดการแข่งขัน BMW SIM Live เป็นครั้งแรก และได้รับการตอบรับอย่างก้าวกระโดดในปีถัดมาจากการเริ่มต้นทัวร์นาเมนท์ BMW SIM Cups รายการต่างๆ ในปีนี้ BMW จึงพร้อมสานต่อความสำเร็จผ่านการแข่งขัน BMW SIM Cups สามรายการดังต่อไปนี้
รายการแรกคือ BMW SIM GT Cup ซึ่งจัดต่อจากการแข่งขันในชื่อ BMW SIM 120 Cup เมื่อปีที่แล้ว โดยจะแบ่งออกเป็น 2 สองซีซั่น ซีซั่นละ 5 รอบการแข่งขัน รอบละ 120 นาทีและแข่งเป็นทีม 2 คน ด้านรถแข่ง ผู้เข้าแข่งขันจะแข่งกันด้วยรถ BMW M8 GTE ในซีซั่นแรกและ BMW M4 GT3 ในซีซั่นที่สอง ส่วนซิมูเลเตอร์นั้นจะใช้ iRacing ซึ่งจำลองการแข่งขันไว้บนระบบปฏิบัติการ Windows และได้รับการยอมรับว่ามีความแม่นยำและสมจริงที่สุด ในแต่ละซีซั่น ทีมผู้ชนะจาก 4 สนามแรกและทีมที่ทำผลงานได้ดีที่สุดลำดับที่ 1-2 ในสนามที่ 5 ของแต่ละซีซั่นจะเข้าสู่รอบไฟนอลของ BMW SIM Live 2021 ช่วงปลายปีต่อไป BMW SIM GT Cup จะเริ่มการแข่งขันในซีซั่นแรกที่สนามเสมือนจริง Daytona International Speedway วันนี้ (17 มกราคม)
การแข่งขันรายการถัดไปคือ BMW SIM M2 CS Racing Cup โดยจะแบ่งการแข่งขันเป็นสองซีซั่น ซีซั่นละหกรอบการแข่งขัน ผ่านแพลทฟอร์มตัวท็อป rFactor 2 GT Pro Series ที่ได้รับความนิยมอย่างมาก ผู้ชนะในแต่ละรอบจะได้เข้าสู่รอบสุดท้ายของ BMW SIM Live เช่นกัน ในปีนี้ การแข่งขันในแต่ละรอบของ M2 CS Racing Cup จะเปลี่ยนสนามแข่งขันไปเรื่อยๆ ซึ่งต่างจากปีที่แล้วที่จัดการแข่งในสนามเสมือนจริง Nordschleife ของ Nürburgring เท่านั้น เกมการแข่งขันรอบแรกของซีซั่นหนึ่งจะจัดที่สนามเสมือนจริง Imola 8 มีนาคมนี้
ทัวร์นาเมนท์สุดท้ายคือ BMW SIM Time Attack by Assetto Corsa Competizione ซึ่งเป็นรายการใหม่ล่าสุด เบื้องต้น รูปแบบการแข่งขันจะเป็นการจับเวลาของผู้แข่งขันแต่ละคน และจะเปลี่ยนสนามแข่งแบบเวอร์ชวลทุกเดือน ซึ่งแต่ละเดือน ผู้ที่ทำเวลาได้ดีที่สุดก็จะได้เข้าไปแข่งขันใน BMW SIM Live 2021 ต่อไป ผู้เข้าแข่งขันทุกคนจะต้องประลองความเร็วกันด้วยรถ BMW M4 GT4 ผ่านแพลทฟอร์มซิมูเลเตอร์อิตาเลียน Assetto Corsa Competizione ซึ่งมีจุดเด่นที่กราฟิกสวยงามและสมจริงมากที่สุดรายหนึ่ง นอกจากนี้ สมาชิกแพลทฟอร์มยังสามารถเข้าร่วมการแข่งขันได้อีกด้วย สำหรับวันและสนามแข่งขันเสมือนจริงจะประกาศให้ทราบในภายหลัง

After the successful debut last year, the new edition of BMW SIM Cups expands with more choices and excitement.

Apart from the development of automobile and race cars in the real world, BMW is highly engaged in virtual car races as well. Simulations are not created exclusively for gamers – professional racers can use them as practicing tools on a continuous basis. This is why, back in 2019, the BMW Motorsport SIM Racing was established as a department, together with the first BMW SIM Live. Things got even more serious with the BMW SIM Cups 2020 which proved to be hugely popular and is now followed up by the 2021 edition.
The first tournament of the BMW SIM Cups 2021 is BMW SIM GT Cup – a successor to last year’s BMW SIM 120 Cup. Divided into two 5-race seasons throughout the year, teams of two will compete in 120-minute races. BMW M8 GTE will be the car for all sim racers in Season 1, and BMW M4 GT3 in Season 2. The simulator of choice, iRacing on Windows, is recognised as one of the most precise and realistic platforms. Winners of the first four races in each season will qualify for the grand final at BMW SIM Live 2021 later in the year. They will be joined by the top two teams in the fifth race of each season. The first race of season 1 is taking place at the virtual Daytona International Speedway today (17 January).
The next tournament is known as the BMW SIM M2 CS Racing Cup. It comprises two 6-race seasons on the popular, top-class platform rFactor 2 GT Pro Series. Winners of each race will qualify for the final at BMW SIM Live, too. In this year, BMW SIM M2 CS Racing Cup will take place at different racetracks whereas it was previously held exclusively at the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife. The SIM M2 CS Racing Cup will start on 8 March with the virtual Imola being the first venue.
BMW SIM Time Attack by Assetto Corsa Competizione is the last of the tournaments and a new race format by itself. According to initial information, it will take the form of a lap time competition on circuits that change monthly. The driver with the fastest lap time each month will simiarly qualify for the BMW SIM Live 2021. All players will compete with the virtual BMW M4 GT4 on the highly realistic Assetto Corsa Competizione. Additionally, every member of the Italian simulator platform community will be able to participate. More details on racetracks and start times will be announced later.
