Renowned Italian sporstcar manufacturer, Alfa Romeo, has decided to move into the SUV market after 106 years in the making. Think Alfa Romeo, drivers of the brand will always remember the innovative engine Alfa Romeo is capable of producing that contributes to class-leading performance with great efficiency.
When model car Stelvio was introduced in 2016, it was definitely worth the wait. This time round, Alfa Romeo takes the prototype further based on the four-door Giulia Quadrifoglio model – that is to transform the already intelligent sports car into a larger, higher riding car. Following the announcement a year ago that Alfa Romeo would be revealing a ferocious Quadrifoglio guise and this week it finally confirmed, and Alfa Romeo owners can expect speed and performance.
Thanks to the lightweight construction using carbon fiber and aluminum, enabling a balanced weight distribution of 50:50 ratio, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio will use the same 2.9 litre twin-turbo V6 engine that delivers 510hp, and the intelligent all-wheel-drive system will nudge Stelvio to perform at a 0-100km/h time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 176mph.
When it comes to bends, it promises to be equally quick and steady. But it’s not all words and no action, according to Alfa, it recently took the Stelvio Quadrifoglio for a test-drive in demanding tracks of Nurburgring in Germany, and recorded a lap time of 7 minutes and 51.7 seconds. Which means, the car can claim to be the fastest SUV around the ring.
“This car will be coming with a Race Mode and drivers to change through each of the eight gears in the automatic transmission in 150 milliseconds” – Alfa Romeo
The new SUV will see a few changes to its exterior – there are added vents in the hood, air vents for the intercooler on the sides of the car and side skirts to improve the car’s aerodynamics. While the inside surfaces of Alfa features comfortable seats dressed in the finest leather and covered in carbon fibre and Alcantara. The infotainment system gets an 8.8-inch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay systems.
The new Stelvio Quadrifoglio SUV also boasts a higher ride height and intelligent four-wheel-drive system to cope with off-roading and icy roads.
It’s worth the wait for SUV lovers and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is ready for order now and deliveries will begin in early 2018.
