Airbus ZEROe นวัตกรรมสะอาดพลังงานไฮโดรเจนสำหรับอนาคตของโลกการบิน

เราไม่สามารถบอกว่านี่คือข่าวล่ามาเร็ว เพราะที่จริงก็เปิดตัวกันไปตั้งแต่เดือนกันยายนแล้ว เพียงแค่ว่าคนที่อยู่นอกวงการการบินน่าจะยังไม่ได้เห็นกัน เครื่องบินทั้งสามลำที่คุณเห็นอยู่นี้เป็นอากาศยานคอนเซปท์ในชื่อ ZEROe ซึ่ง Airbus กำลังพัฒนาให้เป็นเครื่องบินแบบปล่อยมลพิษเป็นศูนย์รุ่นแรกของโลกที่สามารถใช้งานในเชิงพาณิชย์ได้ หากทุกอย่างเป็นไปตามแผนก็จะพร้อมสำหรับการใช้งานจริงภายในปี ค.ศ. 2035
เครื่องบิน Airbus ZEROe ทั้งสามสไตล์จะใช้ไฮโดรเจนเป็นแหล่งพลังงานหลัก เพราะผู้ผลิตอากาศยานสัญชาติฝรั่งเศสรายนี้เชื่อในศักยภาพของไฮโดรเจนในการเป็นเชื้อเพลิงสะอาดสำหรับอุตสาหกรรมการบิน โดยมองว่าไฮโดรเจนน่าจะเป็นคำตอบสำหรับทั้งอุตสาหกรรมนี้และอุตสาหกรรมอื่นๆ ที่มีความตั้งใจจะลดการปล่อยคาร์บอนให้เป็นศูนย์ในอนาคต
ดีไซน์ที่หนึ่งเป็นแบบเทอร์โบพร็อพ สามารถรองรับผู้โดยสารได้ถึง 100 คนและมีพิสัยทำการกว่า 1,000 ไมล์ทะเลจึงเหมาะสำหรับไฟลท์แบบสั้น หากต้องบินยาวๆ นั้นก็มีดีไซน์ที่สองคือแบบเทอร์โบแฟนที่รองรับผู้โดยสารได้ 120-200 คน และสามารถบินข้ามทวีปได้ด้วยพิสัยทำการกว่า 2,000 ไมล์ทะเล และดีไซน์ที่สามที่ดูล้ำกว่าแบบอื่นใดมีชื่อว่าเบลนด์วิงบอดี้ ลำตัวของเครื่องบินจะมีความกว้างเป็นพิเศษ และปีกทั้งสองจะผสานเข้าเป็นชิ้นเดียวกันกับลำตัวของเครื่องเลย ภายในสามารถจัดรูปแบบห้องโดยสารได้ต่างๆ เพื่อให้รองรับผู้โดยสารได้มากถึง 200 คน และพิสัยการบินนั้นก็จะใกล้เคียงกันกับเครื่อง ZEROe แบบเทอร์โบแฟน
กิโยม โฟรี ซีอีโอของ Airbus กล่าวว่า “นี่เป็นช่วงเวลาแห่งประวัติศาสตร์ของอุตสาหกรรมการบินพาณิชย์ทั้งหมด และเรามีความตั้งใจที่จะเป็นผู้นำในการเปลี่ยนผ่านครั้งสำคัญที่สุดเท่าที่อุตสาหกรรมนี้เคยพบเห็นมา เครื่องบินคอนเซปท์ต่างๆ ที่เราเผยโฉมในวันนี้ [21 กันยายน ค.ศ. 2020] ได้ทำให้โลกเห็นถึงโฉมหน้าของความมุ่งมั่นในการขับเคลื่อนวิสัยทัศน์สู่อนาคตของการบินแบบไม่เกิดมลภาวะของเรา”
แต่เส้นทางสู่การกำจัดการปล่อยคาร์บอนในอุตสาหกรรมกรรบินนั้นยังอีกยาวไกล เพราะนอกเหนือจากเรื่องของตัวอาศกาศยานเองแล้ว ระบบโครงสร้างพื้นฐานก็จะต้องรองรับด้วยตามสนามบินต่างๆ ที่เครื่องบินเหล่านี้จะไปเยือน หลักๆ ก็คือว่าสนามบินจะต้องสามารถเติมไฮโดรเจนให้กับเครื่องบินแบบปลอดมลพิษเหล่านี้ได้ ซึ่งการที่จะมีไฮโดรเจนพร้อมในระดับนั้นก็ต้องอาศัยความร่วมมือและการสนับสนุนจากภาครัฐของแต่ละประเทศด้วยเช่นกัน

Three concept aircrafts were revealed as many industries strive to achieve climate-neutral targets.

This is not exactly news, having been officially unveiled back in September, but we believe most who do not follow the aviation industry closely must have missed it. The three aircrafts you are looking at represent the concepts with which Airbus hope to deliver as the world’s first zero-emission commercial aircraft. If everything goes as planned, they will become viable products in the future and ready for service by 2035.
Despite apparent design and aerodynamic differences, all three concept aircrafts codenamed “ZEROe” use hydrogen as their primary power source. The French aircraft manufacturer believes in the potential of hydrogen as clean aviation fuel, and that it will likely become a solution for aerospace and other industries in need to achieve climate-neutral targets.
The turboprop design will accommodate up to 100 passengers over a range of more than 1,000 nautical miles, making it perfect for short-haul trips. For long-haul operation, the turbofan design, accommodating 120-200 passengers, can operate transcontinental flights with a range of over 2,000 nautical miles. The third design, and the most futuristic-looking of all, is called the blended-wing body. Here, the wings merge with the exceptionally wide fuselage, and the cabin layout can be managed to receive up to 200 passengers. Its operational range is similar to the turbofan ZEROe.
“This is a historic moment for the commercial aviation sector as a whole and we intend to play a leading role in the most important transition this industry has ever seen. The concepts we unveil today [21 September 2020] offer the world a glimpse of our ambition to drive a bold vision for the future of zero-emission flight,” said Guillaume Faury, Airbus CEO.
But the road to decarbonisation of the aviation industry is still long from here. In addition to the aircrafts themselves, necessary infrastructure will need to be in place in order to facilitate their operation as well. Mainly, they will require hydrogen to be available for refueling at the airports these zero-emision aircrafts will visit – an ambitious upgrade which will inevitably require the decisiveness and the support of each government.
