On Khao Road, which runs behind Vajira Hospital in a historic and busy neighborhood in Dusit District, stands a luxury riverside hotel. A place of distinctive architecture and design, reminiscent of a luxury country home in the midst of nature, it offers the highest level of privacy, exceptional service, and amenities that are second to none. The hotel is situated on more than 7 rai of land owned by the Sukosol family. Once the site of a private pier and place of relaxation belonging to the family’s patriarch, Mr. Kamol Sukosol, the property was leased out for many years. After the lease ended, Kamol’s daughter Kamala, a veteran of the local hotel industry, decided to turn it into a hotel. Her youngest son, Krissada Sukosol Clapp, popularly known as the singer Noi of Pru, took the helm of the project. With the family’s capabilities and the talent of the world-renowned architect and designer Bill Bensley, The Siam came into existence.
Design-wise, The Siam is a blend of Art Deco, style elements from King Rama V’s era, and influences of Paris’s Musée d’Orsay. The main building features a neutral palette of white, black, cream and gray, with colorful accents from whimsical furniture and accessories – such as a purple sofa with polka-dot cushions. The courtyard area is centered around a pool and surrounded by lush vegetation. What truly sets the hotel apart, however, is the use of antiques and artifacts from Krissada’s personal collection to decorate both the common areas and guest rooms. This has earned The Siam a reputation as an urban resort and museum.
There are 38 guest rooms of 7 types ranging from 80-130 sqm, including Siam Suite, Garden View Suite, Premier Garden View Suite, River View Suite, Premier River View Suite, Courtyard Pool Villa and Riverside Pool Villa. All guest rooms have high ceilings and are furnished with a luxurious super king size bed. The decor, different in each room, makes liberal use of art and antiques. One bicycle-themed guest room has an actual bicycle displayed on the wall. Guests also enjoy the service of a private butler who works to ensure their comfort and satisfaction.
In addition to luxury accommodation, The Siam offers a wide range of amenities and services designed to make guests’ stay memorable. The infinity pool by the Chaophraya is perfect for a swim or sunbathing and drinking in views of the river and Sang Hi Bridge.
