อัพเดทความเคลื่อนไหวของพิธีเปิดอย่างเป็นทางการของพิพิธภัณฑ์ที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดของอียิปต์

เชื่อว่าหลายๆ คนเคยได้ยินข่าวคราวเกี่ยวกับ Grand Egyptian Museum พิพิธภัณฑ์แห่งใหม่ที่ยิ่งใหญ่ ที่จะเป็นศูนย์รวมของความทันสมัยและอลังการที่สุดของประเทศอียิปต์ ซึ่งเป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์ที่ริเริ่มโครงการโดยรัฐบาลอียิปต์เมื่อปี ค.ศ. 2002 ตั้งอยู่บนพื้นที่ 500,000 ตารางเมตร และตั้งอยู่ห่างจากมหาพีระมิดแห่งกีซาสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวอันโด่งดังของอียิปต์เพียงสองกิโลเมตร พิพิธภัณฑ์ Grand Egyptian Museum หรือ GEM แห่งนี้ได้รับออกแบบโดย Heneghan Peng Architects บริษัทสถาปนิกชื่อดังจากประเทศไอร์แลนด์ เมื่อสร้างเสร็จสมบูรณ์พิพิธภัณฑ์แห่งนี้จะเป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์โบราณคดีที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในโลกที่รวบรวมเอาศิลปวัตถุและโบราณวัตถุอันทรงคุณค่าทางประวัติศาสตร์มากกว่า 100,000 ชิ้น ซึ่งรวมถึงคอลเลคชั่นที่สมบูรณ์ที่สุดของ ฟาโรห์ตุตันคามุน (Tutankhamun) ด้วย
การก่อสร้าง GEM นั้นเริ่มต้นขึ้นอย่างจริงจังราวปี ค.ศ. 2005 และดำเนินเรื่อยมาแต่ก็มีหลายสาเหตุที่ทำให้การก่อสร้างพิพิธภัณฑ์นั้นล่าช้าและไม่เป็นไปตามแผน ไม่ว่าจะด้วยเหตุผลทางด้านเศรษฐกิจ การเงิน การเมืองภายในประเทศรวมถึงปัจจัยภายนอกประเทศ อย่างไรก็ตามในปี ค.ศ. 2018 และ 2019 ได้มีการเปิดบางส่วนของพิพิธภัณฑ์ให้บุคคลทั่วไปเข้าชมได้บ้างโดยจำกัดจำนวนผู้เข้าเยี่ยมชม และกลับมาเปิดให้เข้าชมได้อีกครั้งในปี ค.ศ. 2022 ซึ่งในครั้งนี้ยังรวมถึงการจัดอีเว้นท์พิเศษๆ เฉพาะกลุ่มและนิทรรศการชั่วคราวเพื่อเป็นการทดสอบความพร้อมของระบบ โดยเมื่อไม่นานมานี้ได้มีการจัดนิทรรศการแนวอิมเมอร์ซีฟของ ฟาโรห์ตุตันคามุน ซึ่งได้รับความสนใจเป็นอย่างมาก
ณ ปัจจุบันบริเวณที่ได้รับอนุญาตให้เข้าชม ได้แก่ เสาโอเบลิสก์ หรือ Hanging Obelisk ตั้งอยู๋บริเวณลานด้านหน้าเพื่อนำนักท่องเที่ยวไปสู่ Grand Hall ซึ่งเป็นบริเวณที่จะสร้างความตื่นตาตื่นใจให้กับผู้มาเยี่ยมเยือนด้วยรูปปั้นขนาดมหึมากว่า 80 ตันของฟาโรห์แรเมซีสที่ 2 (Ramesses II) ที่ตั้งเด่นเป็นสง่าอยู่ที่ Grand Hall แห่งนี้ บริเวณ Grand Staircase นิทรรศการถาวรของรูปปั้นโบราณกว่า 50 ชิ้นและวัตถุโบราณ ซึ่ง Grand Staircase นี้เมื่อเดินขึ้นไปถึงด้านบนสุดก็จะพบกับวิวอันงดงามของพีระมิดกีซ่าที่ตั้งอยู่ไม่ไกลจากพิพิธภัณฑ์ และเมื่อเร็วๆ นี้ทางพิพิธภัณฑ์ก็ได้เปิดพื้นที่ใหม่ที่อนุญาตให้ประชาชนทั่วไปเข้าชมเพิ่มเติม ซึ่งเป็นบริเวณที่จัดแสดงรูปปั้นจำนวน 10 ชิ้นของฟาโรห์เซนุสเรตที่ 1 (Senusret I) นอกจากนี้ยังมีพื้นที่ร้านค้าปลีกและร้านอาหารในคอมเพล็กซ์ รวมถึงสวนสวยด้านนอกอาคารอีกด้วย
Grand Egyptian Museum ยังมีบริเวณอื่นๆ อาทิ พิพิธภัณฑ์ของเด็ก พื้นที่จัดแสดงนิทรรศการชั่วคราว ห้องสมุด ศูนย์การเรียนรู้ ศูนย์อนุรักษ์ที่ทันสมัย ศูนย์ประชุม และอีกมากมายที่ยังไม่เปิดให้บริการ ณ เวลานี้ แม้ข่าวคราวของการเปิดตัวอย่างเป็นทางการที่เคยประกาศว่าจะเกิดขึ้นภายในกลางปี ค.ศ. 2024 ของพิพิธภัณฑ์แห่งมนุษยชาติดูเหมือนจะไม่เป็นไปตามแผนและยังคงเลื่อนออกไปอีกครั้ง ไม่ว่าจะด้วยปัจจัยภายในประเทศหรือภายนอกประเทศ เราก็เฝ้าคอยและหวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่าพิพิธภัณฑ์อันยิ่งใหญ่แห่งนี้จะได้เปิดประตูต้อนรับนักท่องเที่ยวและผู้มาเยี่ยมเยือนอย่างเป็นทางการและเต็มรูปแบบในเร็ววันนี้ หากท่านใดสนใจและรอพิธีเปิดไม่ไหวก็สามารถศึกษารายละเอียดการเข้าชมและลงทะเบียนได้ที่เว็บไซท์ของพิพิธภัณฑ์โดยตรง

The latest updates on the official opening of Egypt’s grandest museum.

We believe that many of our readers have heard about the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which is set to be the most spectacular, most state-of-the-art museum in Egypt. The museum project, launched by the government of Egypt in 2002, is located just 2 km from the Great Pyramids of Giza, long a world-renowned tourist destination. Designed by Heneghan Peng Architects of Ireland and totaling 500,000 sqm, when completed the GEM will stand as the world’s largest museum of archeology, housing over 100,000 artifacts including the most complete collection of artifacts related to Pharaoh Tutankhamun.
Construction began in earnest around 2005 but has suffered many delays and setbacks due to economic, financial and domestic political reasons as well as external factors. However, in 2018 and 2019 parts of the museum were open to the public on a limited basis. In 2022, the museum resumed receiving visitors and began holding special group events and temporary exhibitions to test the readiness of the site. More recently, it held an immersive exhibition on Tutankhamun, which attracted a great deal of attention.
Currently, visitors can start their visit at the Hanging Obelisk in the courtyard. Proceeding into the Grand Hall, you’ll find the imposing, 80-ton sculpture of Pharaoh Ramesses II. The Grand Staircase vertical gallery is another major highlight, showcasing over 50 ancient sculptures and artifacts on a permanent basis. When you ascend to the top of the staircase, you will be greeted by stunning views of the Great Pyramids of Giza standing a short distance away. Recently, the museum opened more spaces to public access, including the showcase of 10 sculptures of Pharaoh Senusret I. The retail and dining complex and exterior gardens are now accessible as well.
GEM also contains a children’s museum, temporary exhibition spaces, a library and learning center, a state-of-the-art conservation center and a convention center, all of which remain inaccessible today. Despite news of an official opening slated for mid-2024, things seem to have not proceeded according to plans and the opening has been postponed again. Despite this latest setback, we continue to look forward to the day this grand museum officially and fully opens its doors to tourists and visitors.
