เมื่อเริ่มก้าวเข้าสู่พื้นที่นิทรรศการเราสัมผัสได้ถึงกลิ่นอายของมวลดอกไม้หอมตลบอบอวล ณ บริเวณทางเข้า ซึ่งน่าจะเป็นความตั้งใจของผู้จัดนิทรรศการในการนำพาให้เราดำดิ่งไปในโลกของศิลปะแนวอิมเพรสชันนิสม์ที่มีโคลด โมเนต์ เป็นแกนหลักของนิทรรศการในฐานะศิลปินที่เป็นที่ยอมรับและรู้จักอย่างกว้างขวาง และนำเอาสวนดอกไม้ของบ้านโมเนต์ในเมืองจิแวร์นี ประเทศฝรั่งเศสที่เขาใช้ชีวิตในช่วงสุดท้ายมาเป็นแรงบันดาลใจ พื้นที่นิทรรศการทั้งหมดมีกว่า 4,000 ตารางเมตรและแบ่งออกเป็นสี่โซนด้วยกัน ในโซนแรกผู้จัดงานแสดงข้อมูลและไทม์ไลน์ของศิลปะแนวอิมเพรสชันนิสม์ตั้งแต่ในช่วงศตวรรษที่ 19 จนถึงต้นศตวรรษที่ 20 อีกทั้งยังได้แนะนำศิลปินเอกทั้ง 15 ท่านพร้อมประวัติโดยย่อและตัวอย่างผลงานชิ้นเด่นๆ ให้เราได้รู้จักมากขึ้นอีกด้วย น่าประทับใจกับข้อมูลและการเตรียมงานของโซนนี้เป็นอย่างมาก
เมื่อเราได้ทำความรู้จักกับศิลปินทั้ง 15 ท่านแล้ว พื้นที่โซนถัดไปคือห้องนิทรรศการแสดงภาพวาดของศิลปินทั้งหมดที่ผ่านการร้อยเรียงในรูปแบบดิจิตอลกว่า 3,500 ผลงานฉายผ่านโปรเจกเตอร์ความละเอียดสูงกว่า 58 ตัว ดุจแกลเลอรีจำลองโลกเสมือนขนาด 1,600 ตารางเมตร ซึ่งมีขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดในประเทศไทย ประกอบบทเพลงคลาสสิคสุดแสนไพเราะ อาทิ เดอบูว์ซี (Debussy) ไชคอฟสกี (Tchaikovsky) ราแวล (Ravel) และออแฟนบัก (Offenbach) เรียกได้ว่าระบบแสง สี และเสียง นั้นยิ่งใหญ่และตระการตาเป็นอย่างมาก
เมื่อเต็มอิ่มกับการแสดงผลงานในรูปแบบดิจิตอลแล้ว โซนถัดมาจะเป็นโซนกิจกรรมต่างๆ บนพื้นที่กว่า 2,000 ตารางเมตร ที่ให้คุณได้เพลิดเพลินกับการถ่ายรูปกับสะพานญี่ปุ่นและสวนดอกไม้จำลองที่สวยงามจากภาพวาด Japanese Bridge หรือเข้าชม Water Lily Mirror Room ห้องกระจกพร้อมบึงดอกบัวแสนวิจิตร ยังมีห้องกิจกรรมทดลองวาดรูปที่ให้คุณได้สัมผัสประสบการณ์การวาดรูปและเลือกซื้อภาพวาดเพื่อลงสีแบบศิลปินอิมเพรสชันนิสม์ (ซึ่งต้องใช้เวลาพอสมควรจนกว่างานจะเสร็จ) หรือสตูดิโอจำลองของโมเนต์ซึ่งเป็นห้องที่นำเทคนิค AI อินเตอร์แอคทีฟมาเนรมิตงานศิลปะชิ้นเอกเป็นภาพสเก็ตช์ของคุณที่สามารถเซฟเป็นไฟล์และพิมพ์เป็นรูปภาพ (แบบมีค่าใช้จ่าย) ที่ร้าน Artist Shop ซึ่งเป็นโซนสุดท้ายที่ให้เราได้เก็บเกี่ยวงานศิลปะในรูปแบบต่างๆ เป็นของที่ระลึกกลับบ้านได้อีกด้วย

Captivating new exhibition takes visitors on a virtual dive into the aesthetics of Impressionism.

Following the success of Van Gogh Alive Bangkok, Live Impact Events has teamed up once again with Grande Experiences, creator of fully integrated multisensory immersive cultural experiences, to present Monet & Friends Alive Bangkok at Iconsiam from 22 September 2023 to 7 January 2024. Showcasing the artistic creations of Claude Monet and 14 other iconic painters including Pierre Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Paul Cézanne and Edgar Degas, this digital immersive exhibition promises to transport visitors into the virtual world of 19th century Impressionistic Art.
Entering the exhibition space, we were greeted by the sweet scents of flowers, an olfactory invitation to take a deep dive into the world of Impressionism. Claude Monet gets top billing due to his status as a globally renowned artist, and the exhibition also draws inspiration from the flower garden at his home in the French town of Giverny. In terms of scale this is a huge show, occupying over 4,000 square meters of space and divided into four zones. The first zone offers background information and timeline of Impressionism – a movement that lasted from the 19th to early 20th century – alongside an introduction to the 15 featured artists including a brief biography and major works from their opus. The amount of information and preparation that must have gone into this opening zone is impressive.
Having gotten acquainted with these giants of Impressionism, it was time for us to move on to the next zone: an exhibition hall where the digital versions of 3,500-plus works by the 15 painters are shown using 58 high-resolution projectors. The 1,600 sq.m. space was transformed into a virtual gallery, the largest such space in Thailand, as classical music by Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Ravel and Offenbach played in the background creating a truly magnificent multi-sensory experience.
After exploring the digital exhibition, we began our tour of the 2,000 square meters activity zone. Here you can pose for photographs with a Japanese bridge and flower garden modeled on Monet’s Japanese Bridge, visit the exquisite Water Lily Mirror Room, or go to the painting room where you can try your hand at Impressionistic painting (this will take some time to complete). You can also visit the virtual Monet studio where AI interactive technology will create a portrait sketch of you, which you can save and print out (for a fee) at the Artist Shop, the final stop where various forms of art are available as souvenirs.
We recommend setting aside about two hours to leisurely explore the exhibition. We found the first zone, an introduction to the featured artists and the timeline of Impressionism, especially interesting. After visiting this zone you may well have found a new favorite artist whose works you want to explore further. And when you reach the activity zone at the end, roll up your sleeves and try your hand at creating your own drawing or painting.
