เมื่อค่ำวันที่ 2 กันยายน ที่ผ่านมา Langham Hospitality Group และ Rabbit Holdings บริษัทในเครือของ BTS Group ได้ประกาศเปิดตัวโรงแรม “The Langham Bangkok” ณ โรงภาษีร้อยชักสาม หรือศุลกสถาน (คัสตอม เฮ้าส์) ซึ่งจะพร้อมเปิดให้บริการในปี ค.ศ. 2026 ที่จะถึงนี้ ท่ามกลางบรรยากาศอันน่าจดจำที่โซนพิมาน เทอร์เรซ ศูนย์การค้า Iconsiam
The Langham Bangkok โดดเด่นด้วยทำเลที่ตั้งริมฝั่งตะวันออกของแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา บริเวณย่านเก่าแก่และคึกคักที่สุดย่านหนึ่งในกรุงเทพฯ อย่างบางรัก ซึ่งจะเป็นการนำเอาอาคารมรดกเก่าแก่อย่างโรงภาษีร้อยชักสาม รวมถึงอาคารที่ทำการไปรษณีย์เก่าที่เสื่อมโทรมตามการใช้งานมาชุบชีวิตและบูรณะอย่างสมบูรณ์แบบให้กลับมารุ่งเรืองดังในอดีต โดยยังคงเก็บคุณค่าทางประวัติศาสตร์เอาไว้อย่างครบถ้วน และจะกลายมาเป็นห้องพัก 78 ห้อง พร้อมสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกมากมายและโครงสร้างที่ทันสมัย ซึ่งจุดมุ่งหมายไม่เพียงเพื่อสร้างสถานที่พักระดับโลก แต่ยังมุ่งเน้นในการเติมเต็มคุณค่าทางวัฒนธรรมและเพิ่มศักยภาพทางเศรษฐกิจให้กับย่านบางรัก ซึ่งก็สอดคล้องกับโครงการ Match ของ Rabbit Holdings ที่มุ่งเน้นการฟื้นฟูเมืองและชุมชน ซึ่ง Langham Hospitality Group ผู้เป็นพันธมิตรที่แข็งแกร่งและเหมาะสมในการดำเนินโครงการในลักษณะนี้ก็ได้รับเลือกให้เข้ามาดูแลการบริหารโรงแรมแห่งนี้ในที่สุด
Langham Hospitality Group ผลงานมากมายที่ดำเนินการตามโครงการอนุรักษ์มรดก ไม่ว่าจะเป็น The Langhame Boston โรงแรมหรูที่ตั้งอยู่ภายในอาคารเก่าของธนาคารกลางสหรัฐ หรือ The Langham Huntington, Pasadena โรงแรมหรูในสถานที่ที่เต็มไปด้วยประวัติศาสตร์ฮอลลีวูด และล่าสุดกับ The Langham Venice ที่ได้บูรณะโรงงานกระจกเก่าบนเกาะมูราโน เมืองเวนิส ประเทศอิตาลี ให้กลายเป็นสถานที่พักผ่อนอันหรูหรา
ไฮไลต์สำคัญในงานเปิดตัว The Langham Bangkok ก็คือการนำอาหารรสเลิศจากภัตตาคาร T’ang Court ร้านอาหารกวางตุ้งระดับมิชลินสามดาวจากฮ่องกง พร้อมด้วยบาร์เครื่องดื่มที่มีเอกลักษณ์และขนมหวานระดับโลกที่จะเสิร์ฟเมื่อโรงแรมเปิดให้บริการมาให้แขกผู้ร่วมงานได้ลิ้มรสและสร้างประสบการณ์การรับประทานอาหารที่เหนือระดับก่อนใคร ซึ่งต้องบอกเลยว่ายอดเยี่ยมและจะทำให้โรงแรมแห่งนี้กลายเป็นหมุดหมายใหม่ที่ห้ามพลาดของนักชิมจากทั่วโลกได้อย่างแน่นอน
อาคารโรงภาษีชักสามเป็นอาคารสไตล์นีโอ-ปัลลาเดียนที่สร้างโดย โยอาคิม กรัสซี สถาปนิกชาวอิตาเลียนเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 1888 หรือตั้งแต่สมัยรัชกาลที่ 5 ตัวอาคารมีพื้นไม้สัก บันไดกลางขนาดใหญ่ และโถงทางเดินสี่ชั้นอันงดงามเปี่ยมมนต์ขลัง ซึ่งที่นี่จะถูกแปลงโฉมให้กลายเป็น The Langham Bangkok ที่มีห้องพักหรูหรา ห้องบอลรูมที่มองเห็นวิวแม่น้ำ ไปจนถึงสปาแสนสงบ และที่ขาดไม่ได้คือพื้นที่ส่วนกลางอันแสนอบอุ่น ซึ่งการบูรณะอาคารอายุกว่า 136 ปีแถมยังอยู่ริมแม่น้ำก็ถือเป็นเรื่องท้าทายไม่น้อย เราก็ต้องมารอชมกันว่า The Langham Bangkok ที่เสร็จสมบูรณ์แล้วนั้นจะงดงาม หรูหรา และเหนือระดับเพียงใด

On September 2, Langham Hospitality Group and Rabbit Holdings, a BTS Group affiliate, announced the anticipated 2026 opening of The Langham, Customs House, Bangkok at a memorable event at Pimarn Terrace, Iconsiam. The centerpiece of this riverside hotel-in-the-making is the old Customs House building.
The Langham, Bangkok is situated on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River in Bang Rak, one of the city’s oldest and most vibrant districts. Once restored to its former glory, the Customs House will feature 78 guestrooms while the accompanying structure, a former post office, will house lavish amenities. The creation of the Langham, Bangkok is not simply to build a world-class hospitality destination but to enhance the Bang Rak area’s cultural influence and economic prospects, in line with Rabbit Holdings’ urban and community revival goals, which the company implements via its Match platform. Langham Hospitality Group was selected to operate the hotel on the strength of its track record of successfully partnering on heritage conservation projects.
Langham Hospitality Group’s other heritage conservation hotel projects include The Langham, Boston, situated in a former Federal Reserve Bank building, The Langham Huntington, Pasadena, a property steeped in Hollywood history, and The Langham, Venice, centered on an old glass factory on Murano Island.
One highlight of the Langham, Bangkok’s launch event was the food and drinks from T’ang Court, the Langham, Hong Kong’s three-Michelin-star Cantonese restaurant. Attendees enjoyed a preview of the dining experiences that will be available at the T’ang Court’s outpost at the Langham, Bangkok – which is sure to become a destination for global food lovers once it’s opened.
The old Customs House was built in 1888, during the reign of King Rama V, in a Neo-Palladian design by Italian architect Joachim Grassi. Featuring teak floors, a grand central staircase, and impressive four-story hallway, the building will house luxury guestrooms, river-facing ballrooms, a serene spa and opulent common areas. Restoring a 136-year-old landmark on a riverbank sounds very challenging – and to us, this is all the more reason to look forward to the completed work.
